Ive got a Classic Player 60s strat that has a neck that I just adore. I purchased the guitar just for how good the fit and finish is. Thing is, Im really jonesing a different body for it...but Im not sure how to go about this, so help me understand. I want to purchase a strat body to use with the neck. Ive got a tech who can do it for me (and I should probably also ask him these questions, but I figured I would check the wisdom here to help me address these concerns. Here is the guitar if it helps: www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0141100372 * Can I buy just about any 4-bolt strat body to go with the neck, or are there size requirements, etc.? * I run single-single-single, but if I find a body thats HSS would that work with 3 singles? Or does it have to be set up for SSS * Are there any other major concerns I should think of in regards to finding a correct body? * Are there any specific questions I should ask sellers before purchasing the body? I really appreciate any guidance you guys can give. Im just looking for help so that when I spend the money I dont do it blind. Im looking to find a nice, pure white body to get a look like this:

That color is "Olympic White". Easiest way is All Parts or Warmoth.

Yeah I know its olympic, but it seems most the oly's I find are too yellow-ish so I was thinking about a Warmoth alpine white or an MIM arctic white body. The only reason I didnt just go Warmoth and be done with it is the price...it costs a lot more than just ebaying and old body.

Pretty much any strat body of recent vintage *should* be okay. Heck, even some of the older ones should fit too. You may need to do some shimming, & as the expression goes, "if it don't fit, don't force it".
As far as the Warmoth route goes, as the *other* old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". I've had a couple of Warmoth strat bodies, & the wood was superb.
Good luck!

I've always been a fan of a nice cream patina myself.

With most stratbodies it's only a question about the mountig holes and the dimensions of the neckpocket that could trip you up. The body it self can be routed for just about any mick and/or tremolo combination. At www.warmoth.com/ - you can read up and check out a lot of info about this. My Telcaster is almost all Warmoth-parts. Cheers: Dixiechicken

I just dropped off a bunch of tele parts for assembly but the neck which was luthier-made is notably wider than the neck-pocket on the Guitar Mill body, so it's costing me some good $ for the work. As long as your neck is the standard Fender size and so is the neck pocket, you should be set.

"JebusCrebus" - Dc here! The mics on the Tele is pair of Seymour Duncan Vintage stacks. STK-T3b / STK-T1n Used have a SD STR-3/STL-3 Quarter Pounder at the bridge and SD STR-1 Vintage rythm at the neck - but finally got tired of the hum. ( 25 yrs later ) I listened a lot and think the vintage stacks are pretty close to single coil vintage pu:s. Cheers: Dixiechicken

Agreed, the STK-T3B is a good 'un IMO.

Is it just the color you're worried about? If so don't sweat it. I really like it and if you go messing with it to much you may not get it to play as well as it does now. However, if you really have to have a different body I'd go Warmoth. As Detuned said, "you get what you pay for."

If you're getting a new Strat-body to the neck - and you go the Warmoth route. ( I can recommend them - they are happy to answer your questions - and usually point out things - you yourself might have missed - they did to me )
Try to get the body routed for the Gotoh-Wikinson tremolo instead of original Fender type tremolo. The Gotoh-Wilkinson tremolo is one of the best.

I reread my post and realized it sounded as if it could be Guitar Mill's fault for the bad fit, and to rectify that (hehe guitarist joke ) the body's neck route is standard Fender size.
