This is a new Fender Classic Player 60's Stratocaster I just picked up. I couldn't resist the Sonic Blue with mint green pick guard...

Ive got a sunburst one that I love. The fit and finish is tremendous and the neck fits me perfectly!

Yeah, that thing has a pretty fat neck. It didn't bother me at the store, but after I play it for awhile I can tell. I hope I get more comfortable with it...

Nice looking guitar, taylor! Just curious - have you made any changes to the setup since you got it?

I just this morning had GFS Premium II Alnico IIs put in. Sounds fantastic! I loved the CS69s but these GFS' suit me more. It also now has a white pickguard, knobs, etc. Not sure if it will stay that way or not but the pups came white covers so I figured I would give it a try. Doesnt look as "vintage" but definately looks more sharp.
Ive been considering getting a different body for it (a solid color, maybe olympic white) but havent decided yet. Mine has almost an ebony looking (jet black) fretboard which I love and looks great with the sunburst...and the neck is so damn comfortable! Body change or not, the neck aint goin anywhere!

Hey Bill, I like it quite well. I was afraid I was going to have a problem with the neck (because it is fat), but it really hasn't been an issue. I'm pretty impressed with the build quality, too.

I like the pickups, but I'm in no way a Strat expert. I tend to like hotter pickups - my tele pickups are pretty strong and these aren't near as strong. But, I got the Strat wanting something different, so I have no plans to change the pickups. I think the neck pickup sounds wonderful. The bridge pickup sounds good, but it is quite different than what I'm used to in the bridge. Like I said, I'm not familiar enough with Strats to say if it is a good Strat pickup. I need to have some "strat man" play it and tell me what they think! Or, maybe I could just get motivated and make some sound clips for you...

Send the guitar to me and I will give you a report on it for free. What are friends for? ;D Bill

Bill, I'd love to give someone that knows what to do with a strat (such as yourself) a spin. When your band is on tour, make a stop in Indy and you're welcome to it! ;D
By the way, something else about that guitar - when you pick it up it feels pretty heavy, but when playing it I don't notice it. Must have perfect balance...
