I've got a Robt Cray MIM Strat I just got a while back and really like it but I've noticed when I'm playing if my fingers are touching the pick guard at all it's causing static ( crackling ) . Doesn't do it anywhere else I touch the guitar , just when my fingers rub the pick guard . Would that be a shielding/grounding problem ? How to fix ?? Thanks guys

Check to see if it has the alumminum foil under the pickguard.

Make sure it has both the foill behind the guard AND the wire from the bridge plate to the claw..............uh, wait, the RC is a hard tail right?? Then like a Tele the bridge SHOULD be grounded to the pots.
Don't take it for granted it's wired correctly, I have a 2005 Custom Shop Strat, when I got it the tone controls did not work, I looked and looked.....finally I figured out the ground wire that ties all 3 pots together was not there...never was from the factory !! Soldered a short wire across all three pots and BINGO !!!

Thanks guys , i'll pull her apart soon and have a look under the hood . I suspect I'll find one or more of the issues you have mentioned , other than that I really like how it plays and sounds .

Fix'd. I had a pretty bad typo on my earlier post. I left out the "NOT" word concerning shielding and noise. Sorry man.
