I'm looking to pick up something to act as a clean platform for pedals, around 30 watts or so. Needs to stay clean with a Les Paul. Mazerati seems like it would fit the bill, but I'm not a huge Vox fan. Would I be disappointed if I picked up a V2 and ran it through a 2x12 with a Greenback and a G12H30? Thanks!

I wasn't really into VOX before my V1 purchase. To me it's more Marshall than VOX. Played AC30's in the past so I get the comparison but it's really more than that. I mainly use single coils but my Strat has a Duncan Hot Rail in the bridge and it KILLS. As far as that speaker combo I can say the G12H30 is excellent. People here really dig the Greenbacks so I think it would work out nicely.

I think all the Z amps take pedals very well, eh? My Maz18 and Carmen Ghia sure did. I've been debating between getting the new M12, or a Rt. 66, or a Mazerati. Something I can keep clean-ish and use pedals with. The Mazerati has my attention because I loved my Ghia, just wished it had a bit more headroom. Plus, being discontinued has its own caché.

Take a listen to an RX ES too! Clean sound with it's own boost built-in.,,a lot,of headroom there.

I just bought a 2005 Mazerati and am mostly using a Les Paul with it. I'm loving it! It is staying clean when I want it to or breaking up gently with boost pedals and nice and crunchy or soaring with various drive pedals (OCD, Box Of Rock). It is loud (according to two soundmen- sorry guys) even set at only 9:00. It isn't a really 'bright' amp (not sizzly like my Vox-which I was never a fan of). I'd say that with the tone set to have some girth/warmth in the bottom end (around noon) it gets a tad bass-y with the Paul neck pickup. I prefer my coil tapped neck pickup most of the time ('cept for really jazzy moments). This is all with a weber Blue dog in it. Just my $.02

So much from Volume & Tone. Congrats on the Mazerati.

I had the V2 and it was a great amp but like you I wanted a clean platform and get dirt from my pedals. And the Mazerati V2 still wasn't quite clean enough for what I needed at the volumes my band plays at. I needed to go from sparkly clean, think Pete Anderson on "Guitars and Cadillacs" to the more modern country and Classic Rock. I finally had to go to a higher powered amp and bought my Custom Shop Fender Dual Pro. Very clean (and warm and thick) when I needed it to be and takes my pedals very well.
