After Curt's testimony and hearing them in person, I'm gonna test-drive a GFS pickup. I purchased for a mean $36 the Mini PAF to go into the bridge position of my Firebird (I'm keeping the original for its vintage value though). It's voiced for a full-ranged PAF sound with Alinco V mags in Mini-bucker size, so thankfully no routing. The current pickup has been pretty much useless, so hopefully this will wake things up for some raunchy slide playin'. Plus it's only $36. I should get it by mid-week, but won't get a proper chance to try it out until I come back home for Thanksgiving break.

I've got a GFS P90 in my tele at the neck and a one of the 60's single coil in the bridge. They are very affordable and I must say they sound good. I've never A/B'ed them with anything...I'm sure a more expensive pup's would sound better, but for the price they are good (not great).

i'm sure you'll do OK with it. i ordered one of the rail pickups for a Tele and found it to be OK, meaning not bad/not great...., you know middle of the road.

It came in on Tuesday and I dropped off the guitar. I'm hoping that it gives a good slide tone, since that's all I use the 'bird for. It doesn't have to be great, just full and balanced enough. The neck pickup will still get most of the work.

I have the '64/Texas' set in my Strat, I am very impressed, they sound good at any price point, but @ $64 incl. overnight shipping they sound great !! I took that Strat to Z Fest for a 'blind taste test', while no one thought they were the best sounding strat pups they'd heard, no one said they sucked...at least not to me James went home and bought a set for each of his Fenders, now Matt got a set. what I do know is they sound 100% better to me then the stock Custom Shop set the guitar came with. ('60 Closet Classic CS Strat)
