I'm trying to slim down to one amp and I think the Ghia head will do it. It's here, but I'm still trying to decide about the cab. At 58, weight and portability are important to me, so the Z-Best, 2x12 and 4x10 are all out.
I've had a 2x10 Z combo and I love Z's 10's. I was headed that way, then I got to thinking. For the same money as a new Z 2x10 convertible cab I could get two Avatar 1x12 cabs. I was thinking about one with a Hellatone 60 (a pre-broken in V30, which is what the Doc originally voiced the Ghia for) and perhaps the other with a Tonker to max out headroom when needed. Or, I could get one Hellatone 60 and the other with a Hellatone 30 (a broken in G12H30) and essentially mimic a Z-Best!
The Avatars are 30 lbs. each, and obviously could be run individually or in parallel off the Ghia's 4 ohm tap. But the Z 10's are well, Z 10's, and they cover a lot of ground. Although the website says 41 lbs.for the new 2x10, I've never had a Z amp or combo yet that didn't weigh more than it's advertized weight.
I wish one option cost a lot more than the other, but they're about the same.
What would you guys do?

Find an old-style Z 2x10 cab. They weight less than the new ones. Then get one of those 1x12, too. ;D Those might sound good run together...

Fasteddie, here is what I would do if I were you.....I would go to the local Golds Gym and start working out with weights ;D, no really ;D you are getting old and soon you'll be decrepit like me . I have a Ghia head, a 2x10 Z cab, a 1x12 Z cab and a few other single 12 cabs. Like "Kruzty" said, wire the two together and you got the best of two worlds. I switch cabs like some folks change channels on TV. They all sound dang good with the right speakers in 'em. I like a 15 watt Celestion Blue with the Ghia or for max headroom a 30 to 50 watt alnico Weber Blue. Alnicos are lighter than ceramics ;D keep that in mind until you gain strength from working out at the club. Here are a few of my cabs: Peace ;D

With the Ghia, I think you need to check all options with speakers. I LOVE my 15" Weber cabinet and speaker with the Ghia head!! It is VERY lightweight. To me, the 15 has a more defined and nicer bottom than a single 12". The 15 also sounds good with some of my other heads!!

Whoops...I hit post too soon...
To properly answer your question, I'd go with the two Avatars as one will be sufficient for some gigs I'm sure! It gives you more options down the road.
