Got to admit after getting this MIM Robt. Cray hardtail Strat my impression of the quality of MIM Strats has changed . This guitar with the exception of a couple small paint flaws is put together as good or better than any Std. USA Strat plus it plays and sounds great ! I'm not sure what custom pickups are used in the Robt. Cray but they sure have a nice edge and tonal range to them ........very impressed I may upgrade a few minor things like the saddles but in all honesty it's very well made just the way it is .

I have two Mexican Fenders here, a Strat and a Jazz Bass. They are both outstanding instruments.

I guess next time I have the strings off I'll had a look at the pups and electronics . Yeah Bentop , a pleasant surprise , it exceeded my expectations

Cool. I did not realize his Strat was hard tail. I have been thinking about either building a Warmoth or getting a hard tail to use as an experimental platform. Definitely want a hard tail. Also want rear route too, but... Would the Fender gods and the Tele fans put a hex on me if I put a Tone Pro bridge on a Strat or Tele? There are few things in guitars that make me think fugly more than a big hunk of metal Tele bridge thing.

I dont have the Cray, but Ive got a Classic Players which is also MIM and it has incredible fit and finish. The neck-frets were awesome right out of the box and it came with the Custom Shop '69s. Great guitar...and Im not hung up on the MIM thing...cant beat the price either!
