All,
I travel a fair amount and am thinking about picking up a good travel guitar. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Though certainly not the BEST source for ideas about this, I have travelled quite a bit and think it's less about the guitar, more about the case. And the insurance.

I've had my Baby Taylor to Mexico about a dozen times. I have one of the hard cases for it, and I just check it as luggage. Make sure you loosen the string tension before you check it and it will make it through.

I've been using a Mini-Squier. They're only $99 bucks, but they don't play real well and the fretwork is laughable, but it was my son's first guitar and already available.
I would suggest looking at Traveler Guitars. You can usually find one at a Guitar Center to at least test out.

Thanks to all. Here is another one that seems to be getting some good press. www.blackbirdguitar.com/Carbon fiber has it's downsides but for a travel guitar it might be just right (e.g. temperature independent, durable, etc.). Have a wonderful weekend. Tom PS. On a totally separate note, my son (8) decided to start taking guitar lessons on his own. I guess after seeing Dad play and making sure not to force it on him, he seems to be into it more than ever. I am stoked!
