For my G&L Tribute gee-tar. The vintage-style alnicos in there are ok, but leave a bit to be desired. I'm anxious to hear how these DiMarzios sound. What I got was two Area '58's for the neck & middle, then an Area '61 for the bridge. Figuring I can *approximate* the tone of the Fralin vintage Hots in my custom Stratoblaster..
Gonna pop 'em in this afternoon, and take the axe with me tonight with a rock/pop band (along with the Route 66!). Should be fun.
Thoughts, comments, concerns, etc. coming soon...

Jim Soloway of Soloway guitars really likes that pickup combination. I've talked to him about them and he thinks that is the best balance of those pickups because the Area '58 in the bridge just doesn't have that "ooomph" like the "61 does.

I have a set of the old models a V2 front, Blues Middle and a Heavy Blues back in my Dunlavey strat and while they may not be perfect knock offs of my 1962 strat they give me great tone and are dead silent. Great for those first time gigs where you dont know how exactly how close you are going to be the "Bud" sign. I hear the new ones are "better"...whatever that means...Granted I had 500k pots at first and they were too bright..thats what Dimarzio had recomened but as soon as I re-wired to the 250k I had a much easier time dialing them in. Might be a qustion to ask Dimarzio too. Dunlavey liked them also...Good luck.

I can do basic pickup swaps, but have never done one with 5 wires! Guess that's how it has to be with the double-coils... Anxious to see how they turn out. Quiet is always good. ;D

I look forward to your input on these pups. I'm thinking about changing out the pups in my American Deluxe Strat. I really want some great noiseless pickups that are a little more open.
