I have a Rick 360 with the "High Gain" pickups in it. This guitar looks beautiful but sounds like a turd. Does any one make replacement Rick pickups? I'm looking for a vintage P-90 vibe. I know that this guitar can rock, but it needs some help. Any recommendations?

Anyone that makes pickups should be able to rewind the existing pickups to your specifications. I would try Jason Lollar or Lindy Fralin. I know both of them do rewinds.

I've spoken with Lindy about it and that's what I'll probably do but I was hoping that there was an easier way. Some one should make a big, fat & mean Rick pickup. Those things only sound good in Beatles cover bands.

I bet that is a sweet looking guitar. Ric doesn't have a line of their own pickups? Surprising.

Rickenbacker has 3 types of pickups for guitars. 1. Vintage: commonly known as the "Toaster Top." Alnico 5 magnets, wound to approx. 7.4k ohms. 2. Hi-Gain: Ferrous magnet, wound to approx. 10-11k ohms. 3. HB-1: Humbucker. Samarium Cobalt magnets, wound to approx. 12k ohms? All are interchangeable, fitting the same "footprint." www.rickenbacker.com/cart.asp?category=Pickups

I owned a 350 V63. I replaced all the toasters with Ric buckers. It sounded better than the toasters with out the hum. I eventually sold the guitar. If Lindy can make you a P-90ish type pup to fit..go for it as it will rock. Rick

Those things only sound good in Beatles cover bands. Not that there is anything wrong with the Beatles Rickenbacker sound, there are more tones in there for sure. For example, Joe Walsh's go to guitar for slide is a Rickenbacker. I would not call Tom Petty and Mike Campbell a Beatles cover band. I have seen Pete Townshend, Jorma Kaukonen and Leslie West playing them too. I want one. My list of wants is long.
