I've read reviews and threads until I couldn't take it any longer and made a decision today to buy a Boss RV-5 pedal to use with my Ghia. It's not great - but "it'll do". The Ghia is teaching me a lot about how to enjoy not using (or needing) reverb, but for some things I need reverb to color the music just right. I mean even Eric Johnson and Jeff Beck will use 'verb.
Everything I tried I could find faults with and I've done the rackmount stuff before as well. The Boss delivers just enough of what I need and I won't get kicked out of the house for it.
It'll do...it'll do just fine.

That's a wild reverb pedal. But its priced above what my budget was for verb. I spent $131.00 on the RV-5. The one pedal I was leaning toward if I had more to spend was the new TC Electronic model.

Have you tried the "modulated verb" setting yet? is te slight pitch shift fun? Have you tried it in stereo? I was thinkig of a verb to spit my Ghia and Matchless Lightning behing my CMQ.
I think th TC may be overkill, but would love your thoughts.

It reminded me of some verb I've heard Jeff Beck use and a patch I had on a Lexicon rack unit. You can create some "other worldy" sound with the mod' reverb. Using my Maxon Compressor with the gated reverb creates a funky attack all its own. I haven't tried it in stereo yet - my only other amp being a Roland Cube 30 that I keep where I play. Now that I have a Ghia I'm seriously thinking of a second head as well. One for home and one for where I play. Then I'll have some good times setting them up in stereo from time to time. I use to have a blast with two Rivera Chubsters, so I think twin Ghias would be fantastic.

I realize it's out of your price range at about $250, but I think it offers the tonal quality and flexibility you're looking for. Once purchased, you won't have to go through the buy sell phase again. I have this pedal and it is amazing and I've got many props from other guitarists who've said that my reverb sounds incredible.

Ok Here we go~ I bought both RV5 and TC Nova( finally!) Ready? REturned the Nova. RV5sounded mopre lush and had better level matching with my Z Ghia. Nova was......splatty when you hit it hard. Also added bonus... the MODULATED verb setting alone is worth the price of the pedal. I leave it in the back of my Ghia on a little all the time so no one gives meany Boss Grief. LOL. Seriously, I wanted to like the TC but.......................

Anyone compare the Line6 Verbzilla with any of the aforementioned 'verbs? The EBS is interesting. I figured most verbs would be fairly full range; wouldn't think there would need to be one designed just for bass. The sound clips on their site have a lot of higher notes too that sound more in the guitar freq range.
I too like a little delay/verb with my ghia, mostly at home where I don't have much real ambience going on so need a touch of artificial ambience.

+1 on the Van-Ams "Soulmate". Best non-tube reverb I've ever heard. Completely natural and adjustable.

I have my good days and so-so days with the Boss. The more I play the Ghia the more I see how I can live without 'verb. In earlier days with Bassman amps and a Soldano I had, I used a Lexicom MPX-100 for verb and was pretty pleased. I might pick up a used one just for the sake of trying - but that means pulling th eold rack bag out.
