Hey all, I was just wondering if anybody has tried the Stephens Design pickups? They get good reviews at HC, but of course that never means anything. They seem a little expensive, just wanted to see if anyone here on the forum has tried them. Thanks

Hello Scott,
I've got a SD Standard Tele bridge pickup in my homemade Esquire and it is very impressive. Very full sounding and easily the most open pickup I've tried. It has a little stronger output than a MIM Tele, or some of the vintage style Fender PUPs. It really has that "pulled a blanket off of my amp" sound compared to the pickups I've mentioned.
He mentions that he don't really design them for dirt pedals etc, but mine is amazing in this department. With a Klon and a fuzz pedal running together it stays REAL big and fat doesn't get muddy at all.
I have a 62 RI Strat that is stock, a RI SG that is stock, and a custom guitar with Seymour Duncan 59 pickups and out of all of those this is my favorite sounding pickup.
Also a very good guy to work with. I talked to him 3 different times before sending out my money for a purchase.
Don't hesitate to send me a personnal message or an e-mail if you have specific questions. I am not able to compare it to a Fralin, or Lollar though.
