Yeah i know some of the cheaper tele's don't sound to bad actually.....I went into guitar center the other day and played an ash tele and it sounded actually pretty good......I think if i couldve brought it back with me and fired it up into my maz, it probably would've been a great guitar but I want to try and piece one together....Ah does anyone have any recommendations on guitar necks and what to order.....I definately want a maple neck but not sure which one.....I like the c shape neck and the 9 and a half radius.....but not sure should i go with a 2 piece maple neck or a birdseye maple, a vintage neck etc ? Not really sure about guitar necks but seem to like the maple the best .....thanks, B...

It is true, the resale on parts guitars will never be what it is for the name brand guitars. But, after my first build which turned out great, I now know what will more than likely work for me. I have another project in the works...its probably a Squier body that someone painted red white and blue...its never really sounded very good and Ive tried various pickups in it. I'm in the process of replacing everything but the body...buying pretty much the same components that made up my first partscaster(Amalfitano pups, Allparts TMNF-FAT neck, Callaham hardware) and when I get it put together, if it still sounds bad, I'll replace the body with something of better quality and put the old parts back together and hang it on the wall for decoration.

Resale on anything but Fender and Gibson sucks..... this is the reason why i usually don't build something i can buy off-the-shelf. i've always been able to find good "regular" guitars at most stores. with that said, i just started 2 more paisleys, blue and pink.

Hey rcrecelius how is that Tmnf fat neck is that like a v shape or a c ? It looks like a pretty nice neck .....I just want to be spot on when i order this stuff and not having to return any of it .....but yeah it's kinda scary building something because what if it sounds terrible and like you said the end result is having to hang it up in a display case ha ha .....Mudskipper where did you get your tele bodies at ?

It'll sound great cause you built it, man. One of the things about building your own is you care most about the finished product so you'll be extra careful and only put what, to you, is the best stuff on it.

.....Mudskipper where did you get your tele bodies at ? well, i got my last 3 from a place called CST. i don't think he's doing it any more. i just bought one from Warmoth's clearance because they happen to have a 3-pc body at 4.1lb for a good price. for bodies, it's always a toss up between them and USACG. for new necks, i definitely go with USACG unless i can find an old(er) one from Warmoth.

I love my partscaster tele and strat guitars. The compound radius Pro necks from Warmoth are really nice and play like butter. Low resale value is a bad thing for the owner - I guess, but I never want to get rid of mine - they're awesome. Resale value being low however is a huge plus for people who don't have one and want to buy one. - I bought what is probably a $1200 warmoth guitar on ebay for $400. That covers the price of the custom pickups and the hardware alone - great buy!

I would buy someone else's partscaster but usually their spec's are not what I like. And I already have the parts.
