I ordered an Anderson Cobra about a month ago, and just bought a MAZ 18 this past weekend. Wondering if anyone has some comments they'd like to share about this match up, or just Cobras in general? Mine is going to be classic Gold Top with a black headstock.

Sounds like a great guitar. I've never played a guitar that plays as smoothly as an Anderson; without a doubt, the best fret job I've ever seen/played at any price-point. I'm not a huge fan of his pickups, but the guitars are very versatile.
As for the Cobra, the shorter scale-length and mahogany will give it some serious growl, but it will sound great through the MAZ 18. You'll probably find reduced headroom for ultra-clean tones, especially if you've ordered some hotter pickups. I can't wait to hear some clips!

I have a non trem solid body Cobra. It's loaded with a H1- in the neck and a H2+ in the bridge. You're going to love it.I've had mine since 99.It's been pretty beat up from gigging. It's very clear and articulate while staying warm and even. The split tones sound very good and the humbuckers are very fat. It's a great do it all guitar from country, jazz, blue to rock.

Thanks for the replies. Mine is going to have an H1- in the neck and an H2+ in the bridge. It's due for a July delivery date and the wait is officially getting harder. I only ordered it about a month ago...
As far as the guitar with the MAZ, I'm not really a clean tone freak. My cleans always have some hair on 'em, so sounds like it should work out well for me. I'll see what I can do about some clips when the guitar arrives.

I have a 2004 Cobra with the same pickup config. It just plain Honks. The split coils have that edgey breakup yet clean sound that I love and in full HB mode it rips and tears! It can sound very clean or nicely over driven. I agree, if you could only have one guitar for everything it would be my choice; from tele to Les Paul to a strat but with it's own voice. I love the pickups by the way as do many Cobra owners. If Pete Anderson plays a Cobra with Anderson PU's it can't be too bad. Like any guitar you need to find where they fit into your amp and with a Maz you have tons of options.
Good luck
Harry

"Cobra Player" I hope to be one in the not too distant future. As soon as I can get someone to take my Grosh BTC off my hands, or trade. Ray K.
