Depends on the sound you're looking for. Anderson pickups have a more modern sound to them, very clear, quiet, and good sounding, but they're not overly vintage in character. Even the "V" series of the Anderson's, his vintage winding versions, are not exactly vintage sounding. If you want a very versatile pickup though, that allows you to jump through genres, then the Anderson's are quite good.
A lot of people rave about Suhr's vintage pickups, though I've never played with them.

As a rule Anderson pickups are brighter than most. I've had two Tele types. They both have humbucking at the neck and single coil at the bridge. They are both bright guitars. Can't really address their Strat type pickups though.
