I am really psyched up about this and just thought I would share. I finally got to place my order for a New Orleans Guitar Co JB14 semi-hollow guitar. Going with Mahogany neck and body with presentation grade curly maple top (Tiger Burst Finish) and cocobolo board. Have not heard how long it will take yet but I am guessing 4 to 6 months. We'll see on that....may be even longer. Here is the website to check them out: www.neworleansguitar.com/jb14.htmlNow I have to endure the wait till it gets here. Paul G.

Fabio,
I have seen them in the $3,400 to $4,300 range. Just depends on what model you want and what you want in regards to wood quality and such. The VooDoo is generally on the lower end of the range and the JB is all over the range.

Well I got an update from Vincent at N.O.G. Co. I am getting more and more psyched up every day on this. The mahogany he will be using for my JB14 will be from 30 Year old stock that he is getting from a local "wood monger" who is retiring. I also get to pick out the maple to be used on the top and spec out the exact colorations (how dark/light for each color) I want in the Tiger Burst finish. Vincent has been a really great guy to deal with over the last few months (November - March) of research on this order. Can not wait to see how it all comes together. As for wait period all I have been told is that this will not happen over night.
I think the wait will kill me.......I admit..........I have no patience on most things. But I think that this wait will be 100% worth it.

Yep but I use my nickname on here as my sign on..... I just like using TRANE a lot. But when I sign the bottom ofa a post I like to use my name more. No need to be totally confidential or anything.
I have read quite a few of your posts in the past and like what I have heard from the sound samples I have heard of yours. Great Z tone and great playing to boot.

Well, I talked to Vincent on Friday and sounds like things are going well down New Orleans way. Vincent said he will be sending me pictures of the guitar as he makes progress on it. Will be really cool to see how it comes together over time and see the finished product.
Great customer service as usual.

Well, I heard from Vincent the other day. The neck is underway and he sent me a picture of the curl I requested for the top. He also sent me some more pictures of finished guitars to see if I liked any of those finishes better than the tiger burst I have chosen. If I can figure out how to get a pic small enough to attach on here I will. Can not wait for this guitar to be done.

Those are beautiful guitars. A lot of skill and craftmanship goes into them. Not like slapping together another Strat or Tele clone. I find their pickup choices interesting...
Congrats

I have a pen made out of cocobolo and think it's a beautiful wood. Should make for an amazing fingerboard.

I agree Oldster. It does take time and Vincent does phenomenal work. Can not wait to see how it all comes out. I am not, in general, a big fan of Dimarzio pickups. However, Vincent says that he feels they are voiced to compliment his design and wood choices. So I am willing to give them a real shot. If I do not like them it would not take more than an hour or so to change them out to something else. So no big risk trying them out.
Pappy, I love cocobolo myself. Have it in a few pool cues that I love the look of. Would be cool to get a pen too. I really love the look of the wood and the tonal properties will complement the guitar perfectly....at least to me and my ears that is.

I have a prejudice about DiMarzio. I bought a new black LP Custom in '77. The pickups were lifeless. There weren't a lot of aftermarket options then. Al DiMeola used DiMarzios so I bought a set. They were by far the ugliest sounding pickups I ever heard. DiMarzios must be better now or they would have gone broke but I can't forget the ugly taste in my mouth from that Super Distortion Humbucker.

Oldster,
Funny you should mention your experience with that pickup and guitar. That was actually my first exposure to them as well. A friend of mine had a mid 70s Les Paul Custom with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and the stock Gibson pickup in the neck. Loved the neck pick up compared to the bridge. The bridge was thin and very brittle to my ears.
The guitars I have heard since with Dimarzio pickups (not with Super Distortion model though) did not have that brittle sound. So maybe it was the pickup model. I don't know....just thinking out loud there. From what I have heard of the PAF and Airzone I "think" I will like them. However, will not have the real answer until I get the guitar and crank it up.

Well, looks like I am about 4 to 6 weeks away from getting my JB14. Vincent indicated mine should be in the paint booth some time this coming week. Really looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. I have received some great in process pics from Vincent but have not been able to get them to post up here.
