8-)I have a similar post in the speaker section but not much feedback so I'll re-phrase and try here.
I love the old Dickey Betts tone on the studio version of Southbound and his 70's Great Southern albums. He cranked his Marshall and got nice amp distortion but his speakers did not break up. I know he used JBLs.
My question is, can I do the same thing with my Ghia with my 112 cab that is currently loaded with a v30? My v30 sounds great but will not stay clean. Will an Emi Red, White, & Blues get me in the ballpark? Any other suggestions? Thanks

I'm not familiar wiht the red, white and blue. I do have a red fang I use with my ghia and it sounds great but maybe not what you're after. I would recommend the EV EVM 12L, an all time classic, high power handling and headroom, big, clean, low break -up speaker known for not adding a lot of speaker coloration.

+1 on the Evm-12L You might also try the Celestion Classic lead 80.

I use my Ghia with an old EV, sounds great. I never tried it with a JBL. I have some so one of these days I will. I have tried with an Altec 417C, didn't like it.

How much is speaker distortion and how much is the Ghia? Remember the v30 technically should stay cleaner than the 18w Ghia (I think) Brett

Hey Bustertheboy, I agree that the Ghia will not be able to drive the v30 completely, but every celestion I have tried, including the old 150 watt sidewinder, will break up easily. I know the EVs stay clean longer. How about a Red, White, & Blues?
