I am looking for an elec.-acoustic guitar. I have a few songs that I need it for in my band. I do want solid spruce top, with some EQ controls too. Cutaway design, as well. I am looking to spend in the $500-700 range. I have looked at the Breedlove Atlas guitars(US designed, Korea built), and Epiphone has a new model (Performer SE-haven't tried it yet) that looks like a possibility. Anyone have some ideas, suggestions........? Thanks.

maybe look at some of the Godin guitars - they have some interesting combinations in terms of design, electronics and price. I believe they have a couple of different steel-string and nylon strung guitars - check the site www.godinguitars.com I tried the 6-string, T-style acoustic/electric and thought it was fun, 'specially thru an old Traynor (I know, I still have some non-Z gear) - think it has spruce top and chambered mahogany. otherwise, maybe consider epiphone or yamaha if you are looking at cheep and eeZy. just my .02

More money but great sounding and playing guitars, Wendler Electro-Coustic (I think that's wht he calls them). Dave Wendler builds a very lightweight unique guitars and basses. He's a smokin' picker too, so he knows what's good. You'll have to google Wendler Guitars, I don't know the address off the top of my head.

are you looking for an acoustic guitar for the sake of owning an acoustic? Or do you want acoustic guitar sound?
If you wanted an actual acoustic guitar with the ability to plug it in, I wouldn't waste money on an intro model. You'll outgrow it very quickly or never play it. If you want a nice acoustic that has a pickup or one that can be added to it I would souggest a decent Martin or Taylor or something of equal quality.
If you just want acoustic functionality but from an electric bodied guitar, the Godin that JMB27 mentioned is a good start, also the Parker Guitars are a good choice or PRS guitars. All have Piezo pickups in the bridge and sound really nice.

And, if it is an acoustic with plug and play ability, then look at Larrivee - possibly a more economical approach than Martin or Taylor, depending on where you are located and what your local store has in stock. cheers Joel
