Would this even sound good? I dont ever use bridge pickup (mainly neck/mid together) and was wondering if maybe a p90 in a strat would sound good?

Lindy Fralin makes a P90 voiced single coil that I run in my bridge. I never used the back pickup until I got that one. Now I use it quite often. I believe it's called a SP43. It's an option you could take to get the same sound and not have to hack into your guitar.

sbrantley, how do you like the SP43? I've been wanting to replace my bridge pup in my Zion because it's weak and thin sounding (and I've always wanted a P90 guitar!). My only issue is my guitar is uber bright so I hope the SP43 won't add to it.

I love it. It's paired with a couple of Fralin Blues. It's actually ruined all of my other guitars. I have a 63 strat that has the greatest tone ever... but it doesn't have my SP43 in the bridge. It just has a sound that cuts through that I don't feel comfortable playing without. I'll get with Jason and see if we can't put some sound on this thread to give you a better idea. I'm not very good with descriptions.
I don't think you will be disappointed. If you get one and don't like it, I'll buy it from you. I've got another strat that needs a little help.

Debbie Davies plays a Strat With a P-90, Single Coil and a humbucker all loaded in to one. At one point it was on her website.

DEFINITELY ON A WINNER WITH THE SP43! I can guarantee you that if you want to improve the strats bridge tone for a more rockier vibe while still retaining all that Strat vibe then go with either a Fralin SP42 or the slightly hotter more P90 voiced SP43. I have one in my lake placid blue 57' Strat and it absolutely kills it with a rockier edge but still retains that Strat twang and doesn't mush out. You can order them from www.acmeworks.comGood luck and enjoy your tone, Fralins complete range of pickups are absolutely awesome

my guitar teacher replaced his telecaster neck pickup with a P90 and it sounds sweet. could probably work in a strat as well. good luck.
