I'd love to get a Maz 8 and just have it be a lower watt alternative to my Maz 18 so I could stretch the power tubes' legs more at lower volumes.
Why is there no effects loop or non-reverb option on the Maz 8? Kind of breaks my heart as I need an effects loop and don't use reverb.

I ran the effects loop on my Maz Jr. for over a year, running all modulation effects there, and one clean boost. (The entire back row...) I had issues with some pedals looking to get a guitar level signal strength, but rather feeding them the much hotter, already amplified FX loop signal. Some pedals hate that and distort, or end up with an odd volume jump when engaged... (RedWitch) Now I run everything out front... All issues are gone, and my pedals all sound better than ever. I have also had to clean my FX loop jacks once so far in 2 years... I thought I needed an FX loop too when I bought my Maz Jr. Knowing what I know now... It would not be a make it-or-break it situation for me any longer... I have officially converted over to a fan of running everything out front.

Glad it worked out for you! My effects chain seems to run though the loop very well. I really don't like running my delays through a distorted preamp, especially one that's being slammed by a clean boost (further raising saturation) as it increases the delay levels and had weird effects on other things.
Guess all pedals and results are different. Just stinks because my I know my setup works for me and I can't make it work with the Maz 8, which I'm lusting after like crazy.
WANT WANT WANT!!! (stomps foot like child)

I like the effects loop on my Maz 8, its standard equipment for this amp. I use reverb all the time and I like the reverb that comes with the Maz 8 I really like this amp alot, especially the pentode/triode switch! my 2 cents, Todd

The Maz 18 Reverb did not used to have an FX loop standard, but you could still special order one from the Doc.
Not sure if he would still do that or not for the 8, but it would be worth a call to find out.

I'm a little confused, but it's my understanding that the Maz 8 comes standard WITH an effects loop. And don't let the reverb be a deal breaker for you on this great little amp. You might be surprised by it, but if you still don't like it just turn it off and problem solved.

Hmm... No it doesn't. But it is in every pic I've seen of the Maz8. Here's one from that very page. Notice the send and return jacks... Also, Humbuckermusic.com has the effects loops listed in the description as being standard. www.humbuckermusic.com/dr-z-maz-8-studio-combo-red.htmlSo again I say, BUY THIS THING! You won't regret it!

Holy crap, you're right! Z better fix that write up and add it on. I almost dismissed it for this reason.
I guess I'll have to deal with the reverb, but the effects loop is important to me.

Actually, I just re-read the description on the Z site and it is there in the last paragraph on the second line. I totally missed it earlier!

I don't use the reverb on my 8. Just turn it off if you don't want to use it. I don't use the effects loop. I run my board straight in the high input/Pentode mode. Little Beast keeps up with my band just fine and we can get loud at times. I've been finding that I really dig my sound with a delay effect and use no reverb. Anyway, I think it's a plus having the reverb there if you ever want it.JMHO

I just started experimenting this past weekend with the Timmy pedal straight into the high input & triode mode - and sounded pretty fantastic! ;D

I just got a Timmy on my board yesterday. Played it last night through the 8 at band practice and it sounded great.
