What does this sound like, for instance, with an xotic bb preamp? Anyone have any experience with this? What does it sound like through a strat/prs/single coil/humbucker? For super clean sounds, I was going to purchase one of these and sell my mesa boogie, or i thought about selling the mesa and saving up for the new Z coming out, but i just love the clean sounds of the Twin Reverb, but if i happened to use my Xotic BB preamp overdrive pedal, im curious to see how the sustain is or overall sound of the overdrive?

Haven't tried my BB into my Twin Reverb but I saw a guy on Youtube (somebody I guess I'm supposed to know but don't) and he was playing an AC pedal into a twin and was getting a very Larry Carlton kind of tone.

I've always felt that a sweet clean amp like a Twin, makes a great platform for dirt pedals. I haven't heard a BB through a twin, but several other dirt pedals, and all sound very nice.
You'll dig it, and you will have a clean sound that the Boogie can't touch.
Good luck!

My experience is similar. A good sounding Twin, imo, can make almost ANY pedal sound great.
Try a vintage Rat into a Twin-- you'll smile like I did:)

Yep, and a BAD Twin will make anything sound bad. A good one that's been set up and taken care of is a beautiful thing.. But on my backline rider for fly-dates I specify "No Twins." Mainly because there are so many bad ones out there. Don't see any reason why your BB won't sound good with a Twin. In fact, I think in one of the product videos on the Xotic site (Jason something, I think?), it looks like he's playing a Strat through a Twin and getting killer tones.

I had a backline Twin in CROATIA once that had metal 6L6's, right out of the car radio. Man, was it horrible. One perseveres.

Back in about 1973 my brother worked for Zenith and I needed new output tubes for my newish Fender Vibrosonic, bacically a Twin with a Gauss 15". He brought me 4 metal 6L6s. The amp wouldn't even play!

I don't know anything about the BB but I hear its a great pedal. I just wanted to say that I played a blackface twin for years and I second the vote for a good Rat. The best overdrive that I tried with it. But my turbo rat is an old one and I don't know how the new ones are.

I have a twin, and I do use it with my BB. It sounds suprisingly good. The thing ive learned with the bb, is that you have to have the amp pretty cranked. I dont know many people who can do that with a twin... do you?

I can't get my Twin past 4, and if I do we let the Pest control man take a month off.

It sounds great with a Twin and a Deluxe Reverb and a Route 66 and a Marshall JTM45 but not with my students solid state crate. Kids these days! It's very transparent and has no midrange hump. You must however, love the sound of your amp clean, which I assume you do, because it will reproduce, not color that exact sound. When I 1st got my modded JTM45 I plugged in and thought I had the master volume on two. I looked in the back and the master was on 7. The amp should be pretty clean on 7. Then I thought the amp was screwed up. Then I looked down and realized I had left the BB on all night on my pedal board. Thats how transparent it it's. Note to self: Drink less at gigs.

Since I'm currently "Z-less," waiting on a 38 and a 66 head, I've got a couple of Fenders on loan. I have a friends Bassman reissue I'm using for live stuff, and a producer friend's BONE-STOCK (as in, original tubes, too!), one-owner '71 Deluxe Reverb. I used the Deluxe on a session yesterday, and while I realize it's not the same as Twin, it was the first time I recorded with the BB and AC since I got them last week. The BB through the Deluxe sounded AMAZING on a lead track. Without sounding cliche', it was surprisingly Marshall-esque. The BB and I are going to get along just fine, and I think I might have really found what I was looking for.... AC sounded great for low gain stuff, too. I did a couple of clips at home yesterday with the Deluxe and the BB, so it should give you a general idea of how good a BB will work with a Fender amp. Moral of the story is, a *good* Twin should sound absolutely smokin' with a BB....
