Hi folks. My friend got a CG he gigs and it sounds great. I don't. I would like an 8 I think if I can get a warm Fender Deluxe early 60s type sound. I play out almost never now and like a warm sound. I'm not worried about having enough loud. I've other amps (Marshall, Ampeg) if I want to make BIG noise.
What do you think?

all I can say is that I get a ton of different tones out of my mine, I have lots of volume control, both loud and quiet. I really like the amp, especially with my tele
"what do I think?" I think you'd be happy with it, especially if you are looking for queter sounding amp, the pentode/triode switch is really amazing too!

I have both a Maz 8 and an old tweed deluxe (serial number 38 - so old it's not on the lists). The only things that sound like the old 5E3 and similar designs with the interactive volume controls are the similar designs with the interactive controls. I believe that the interactive controls are how those designs got that "warm sound". I consider my Ampeg B15N to be a similar-sounding amp.
That being said, I strongly feel that the Maz 8 is a far far better and more usable amp - warmer (to my ears' version of "warm"), cleaner, better dirt when you want it, and all-round more fun to play at any and all volumes.
I think that you are part of the target audience for owning a Maz 8. Whether you decide to join is totally up to you.

I think you need to order that Maz 8. You can keep yourself entertained for days tweaking this little 8 watt Beast. Very user friendly and can put out some great lead tones when pushed a little or a lot. Pick attack, guitar volume, cleans to mean and nasty. I play M8 Head into a stock Z-Best 2x12. I play in a loud Southern Rock,Blues,Rock and the Maz 8 keeeps up and cuts through for me. Other Z Bros here have the combo's with Blues,Golds,ect....and they seem to love the 8. afew have felt a lack of volume. I have not had the volume problem. It has taken me about 2 months to really get a good feel for the 8 and there's alot of ground left to cover! Good luck on your Z Quest my Bro!
