Anyone have any experience with these? I'm looking at one (my Comanches both have the Z pickups, which I love), and my main concern is how susceptible to feedback these are at high gain. I don't play metal or even hard rock all night long at every gig, but there are times that I stomp the Crunchbox and need some high gain. Are these pretty much the same as most semis, or do they behave well?

I had one for a little while .... but it went back to the store so I could rescue my Strat. It looked awesome and had a good neck on it - but I just couldn't seem to dial in the sound I was looking for. I tend towards a lower-gain, blues/rock/country sound ... although I've been known to hit some bad disco sounds too That said, if you are cool with the Z-coils, then you should give it a good work-out on your best Z amp ....

I knew I was gonna git 'it for that seriously, if I had my Z when I had the Asat semi-hollow I might have changed my mind about it. however, I wasn't keen on it through my ol' Traynor gear or through the 65DRRI that I had at the time. with that said, I am a big fan of G&L's - asat classic, asat special and the legacy - got one in red

I had an ASAT Z-3 Semi Hollow but sold it about 4 years ago. My biggest issue was the rosewood board...I just like maple better. Also, this was before they added the push pull pot to get the extra pickup combinations. They still don't do the separate bass & treble controls like on the Comanche. I don't think feedback should be an issue. I never had any problems.
I have a Comanche with a great maple board neck now that I love. I know you love yours too. I think the secret is lowering the pickups to smooth them out a little.

John I think John hit on a couple of important points - i.e. separate bass and treble controls, maple neck and the adjustment of pick-ups. If you can swing it, 'borrow' the guitar for a weekend and see what it does for you .... keeping in mind those 3 factors. good luck and let me know how it works out ;D Joel
