A used 2005 or so Ghia head, fairly new JJ EL84s and say, a GT 12AX7M and a 5751 or 12AX7 in V2. Blonde. What would a fair selling price be (if I decided to sell). No kidding around, but I wouldn't want to gouge or let someone talk me into a stoopid price. I'm thinking $700.00 picked up, 725.00-750.00 shipped... Thoughts?

The last one that sold on eBay was for $850 + shipping. The one before that was around $730, so there's a range to work from.

I think your 700 to 750 plus freight is fair

At that age and decent tubes I think those are very fair prices and a good deal for some one. Of course it depends on how you're going to sell it. If you go ebay or take Paypal you want to cover those plus get a fair price.

I just bought one from maction for 725.00 including shipping. I thought it was very fair until it arrived and I played it . I would have payed a little more knowing what I now know ! These are great amps and worth every penny someone has to spend.

That sounds below market to me and the amps really don't have anything in them other than tubes to wear out. My only suggestion of a personal note would be to get the 12AX7M out of V1 ... I find it too dark in the Ghia personally.

here's a question: do "upgrades" such as new or N.O.S tubes on amps or boutique pickups n guitars really raise the re-sale value? until recently I thought they would. but when selling some items recently, I ran into two problems. 1) a lot of these upgrades are a matter of taste, & 2) some folks still think of non-stock tubes and pickups as snake oil. sorry if this is off-topic.

I think virtually anytime one sells something used, no matter what it is, the buyer would prefer to have the item in 100% dead stock condition. It gives buyers a sense of security, particularly with something mechanically or electrically complex. This applies even if the mod is an upgrade. I think people just want to make changes for themselves.
Just my .02 though.
