I love the sound of my Cg, but sometimes need more volume/clean headroom. Any suggestions for Dr Z amp that would fill the bill?

Mazerati might do the trick, some have even said the Route 66 but I think you would be a lot safer in keeping with an EL84 amp. What kind of tones are you chasing, country, blues, southern rock?

What are you doing for speakers? How much more volume? If you have a combo or a 1 x 12 cabinet, plugging into a Z-Best will blow more air down range. blues/rock,r&b,some jazz/whatever pays at the gigAny minute now, someone is going to suggest a Maz Sr or Jr.

MAZ Sr will definately suit your needs. I have one and you could play an outdoor blues rock gig with that one. If you want to get even dirtier and then have the option for more headroom, you could even get a RXES, however I'm not sure how well the single cab would suit, as my MAZ Sr has 2x12 blue dog/silver bell ceramic speakers and your headroom will be limited with the single blue.
I forgot to ask you how many watts your blue weber was. Thats definitely going to affect your headroom. A 25 watt greenback is gonna have nowhere near the headroom of something like an eminence red, white and blue or celestion g12h 75'.

The blue dog is a 50 watter. I thought about getting a mazerati, but are hard to find now that they've been discontinued.

The blue dog is a 50 watter. I thought about getting a mazerati, but are hard to find now that they've been discontinued. I talked to ted about this and he said that the sensitivity of his speakers goes up by 1 db or so as the ratings go down, the sesitivity, and volume goes up. I think the 15 watt ceramic dog is 2-3 dB louder than the 50 watter. It is also a bit brighter. It might be enough if you're looking for a small boost. Also the 15 watt blue dog is conservatively rated and should be fine with the ghia. The other option would be a Z best. It is considerably louder and sounds great with the ghia, but it does change the tone a bit.

I like the sound of the 50 watter. Any more treble would be a little much for my ears. I've tried quite a few speaker combo's, but always come back to the blue dog. I tried out a Prescription ES on an outdoor gig last weekend, but I felt the warmth that I like from the Ghia was missing. Lot's of volume though, and the 3db boost is a cool feature.

If you have a 50 watt ceramic blue you should get a decent amount of clean headroom out of that for a small to medium gig. A Maz sr should do the trick then.

What about a clean boost pedal?

Using one now. I put an nos Jan-Philips 5751 in the V1 position today and it cleans the amp up nicely. I've got an outdoor private party gig this Friday, so I'll see how it works.

As mentioned in several other threads on the subject, you can also use a 12 bh7 in V2 to increase the clean headroom. It also makes it takes pedals better.
