Has anyone tried or heard any Bare Knuckle Pickups? I've read some articles about them in the guitar mags. Mostly the mags discuss the new "Ray Gun" pickups built for Steve Stephens. When I visited the Bare Knuckle web sight I was surprised and interested to discover that they also make single coils. I listened to the mp3's they have posted on their forum. I liked the Apache and the Sultan set. Sure would like to try some out as I'd like to upgrade the stock pickups in G&L Legacy. Have been thinking Lollar Blondes as well. The Blondes would match my Maz as she's a blonde also DougG

I have wanted to try their pickups for ages.....Black Dogs, Stormy Mondays, Brown Sugars, Mississippi Queens, maybe even a set of War Pigs.
If I had the $$ I would use them in every guitar I own save my Les Paul (that one's got Duncan CS Jimmy Pages that are the reason I can't bear to sell it!)
The Apaches use Alnico III mags (very uncommon) that have the least amount of magnetic pull on the strings in the Alnico family. They are lower, vintage output (in the 5 ohms, I believe). Don't know much about the Sultan set, but I think they are meant to be played clean.

They're most definitely "en vogue" at the moment, in the UK at least, everyone seems to have them or want them.
But they have had very good reviews, and i know many people who are very happy with them. One guy, a well-established session player i know, particularly recommended the irish tour set, fyi.

I've got them on my firebird, Mule at the bridge (humbucker) and a Mississppi at the neck, beautiful tones though the Mule does seem v loud, perhaps it's set too high? I've also got the Irish Tour set on my strat, can't fault 'em.

I live in Devon UK and Bare Knuckles are made about 50 miles from here. Their site is well worth a visit and they answer questions quickly, many UK boutique guitars are now loaded with them. They seem to have every thing covered, I tried out a Tele with BK 'country boy' pups in and it was lovely. I'm lusting after a G and L legacy in my local dealer's. You obviously like 'em?

john, Yes, I do like my Legacy. I got it 'cause I've never had a Strat type instrument before. Their ASAT's are sweet. If you want a G&L I recommend buying used. You'll save yourself some poundage DougG

A member (who's name escapes me) has a Mississippi Queen in the neck position of a custom Firebird style guitar (and I think a Mule in the bridge). He likes it very much I hear.
