Has anyone played the Peavey Jerry Donahue model? If so, what did you think?

I just played one tonight at a store in town. I was blown away by how "alive" this guitar sounded. It played beatifully and had so much "woody" resonance and sustain. Beatiful finish...........a real winner. It felt like a higer end boutique guitar. I have been on a tele quest for some time now and @ $1250................this one has really captured my intrests.

I was there with James and got to play it also. What an awesome guitar! I really liked the 5 way switch and the different combinations of sound. As for playability, smooth and very comfortable. Jerry Donahue just did an in store appearance and I was sorry that I could not make it due to a family reunion. They said that he was amazing and got some incredible tones out of that guitar. Peavey has a winner with this one!

It would be nice for Peavey to really step up to the plate with a quality piece. He's a true American entrepeneur and could do it if he wanted to.

Dang, I didn't need to hear that. I had one on order, but I was told it would be a few months, so I cancelled. However, I got a used Hollow T classic Anderson instead. It is great, so I can't complain...

I recently had a chance to spend some time with the Peavey Omniac. It had a great playing satin finish "V" neck shape, beautiful ash body and excellent pickups. Played it through a Vox AC30CC2 and it just sounded great! Many great tones available witn the 5 way switch. Peavy has done a great job with this guitar! My only complaint is that this particular Omniac was very heavy. It had the weight of an LP. But it sure had the tone!

This is a great guitar. I've always loved the Jerry Donahue pickups that seymour duncan makes, and they sound particularly nice in this body. The one I played was quite heavy also.

I'd LOVE to have the wiring scheme for that guitar... it's a 5-pos switch, one of the positions has some kind of res/cap network to make the tele sound like a strat in the "in-between" positions.
