I have not totally bonded with the Maz 8 Studio or to the unbroken in Blue speaker(not sure which), and if you looked at my first review, not quite enough volume for a regular gig. So today, I ran music thru the speaker for several hours...trying to follow the directions on the board here...to break the blue in a little more. I was also contemplating a speaker swap just to see the difference a G12H30 would make.
So after playing music thru the Blue all day, I hooked up my LP, and turned stuff up and let her rip. Loud, smooth, articulate...when the knob is up on the guitar, Vol, and MV...you lose a little low end. Maybe muddy is a better word to use, other than that, it sounded great. But back off the guitar volume and it comes back. Then I hooked up my tele, it had sounded a little thin to my ears before. Today, the tele sounded fuller...I'm guessing from working the speaker. It's growing on me...gonna take some knob tweaking, or some more speaker break in time, but it can happen.
Now for the speaker swap. I didn't actually swap speakers, but I did plug into the speakers from my Maz 18 212 combo with G12H30's. Holy cow, what a difference. Granted it was 2 speakers, but man...I want to switch one of those out tomorrow and see what it sounds like with a G12H30 in the combo. The 212 had low end to spare, and the perceived volume difference was tremendous. It had thump and bite with the tele I wasn't expecting...and the LP sang. You owe it to yourself to try a speaker swap and or to run through a 212 cab and hear the difference. I think I read on here someone hooked it up to a Z Best and had no problems with volume...I believe them now.
I'll be putting some music on the Blue again tomorrow all day and see if it helps more...that's my report for now.
