Hey everyone Ive got a telecaster neck that has a frozen truss rod. Does anyone have any tips on how I might be able to loosen it? Thanks flametop603

I had this happen...........I think when the truss rod is maxed out, you need some neck work done...maybe refret, reset the neck.......then you can loosen the truss rod and give yourself some "breathing room" by resetting it......but I had someone do that for me as I am a novice with anything other than a simple truss tweak!
good luck!

If you can loosen up the truss rod, you can take the nut all the way off and try putting some washers under the nut. It's possible the wood is crushed under the nut and letting the nut bottom out on the threads. This would prevent it from tightening up properly. If you're queasy about any of this or if it doesn't work you'll have to take it to someone. DON'T CRANK ON IT TOO HARD. YOU CAN BREAK THE ROD.

Or in the case of the duel truss Rickenbacker basses, if you over- snug the one before the other, the neck can literally snap. Try just simply loosening it and re-tightneing. Sometimes it finds itself again, and is effective. Usually a Fender rod is 3/8" and doesn't freeze easily. It may in fact just be maxed out.
