Hi gang, Well, we just had a gig last night and I got to use the Ghia for the first time. I ended up getting a Lopo Line convertible 1X12 cab and put my V 30 in it. I opened up the cab cause I felt like letting my hair down and feeling the breeze, so to speak. I thought it felt a little chocked fully closed. Anyhoo....Brought the new rig to a small bar here in the Queen city and had a BLAST!!!!! The other guitarist was using an old black face Princeton Re verb and we sounded pretty sweet together, if I do say so myself.. I put new JJ 12ax7's in the far right tube sockets, and new JJ el84's in that had been matched by MOJO something or other, and all of my noise problems went away, and the amp really sounded great. We have two more gigs this coming week, one at the Great American Ball Park!, and I'm looking forward to putting her through the paces in some other spaces.... She might not have enough juice for the outside gig, but I'll just snuggle up close to her and feed some into the fold back if I need to. Man, I'm really digging this amp! Peace, Alex.....

Hey Alex, that must have been fun! Nothing like a regular gig to really hear where an amp sits tonally in the spectrum. My next amp for sure.

I gigged my Ghia for the first time this weekend as well...what an amp! I was playing mine through a Z-best...first gig had to tame it quite a bit w/the airbrake. The 2nd gig was a big barn...volume at 3oclock, tone about 11...man o man! Now I understand what people say about the articulation and string seperation with this amp. Usually when I kick off Pride and Joy I have to turn down when I go to the rhythm part on the low strings cause most amps and/or speakers tend to crap out...that is NOT the case with the Ghia/Zbest combination...I could hear every note clearly with that sweet gnarly edge to it. Sunday - outdoor fish fry party...same settings. Outside, the tone was very much like the Mini Z, just more of it and the low end stayed together no matter how hard I pounded the strings.
Now that Ive played the Ghia through the Z-best Im starting to re-think my plan...which was to put the Ghia in my 1/12 combo cab and my Z28 into the head box. I bet it will sound good as a 1/12 too though...I cant imagine this amp not sounding good through just about anything!

But I will just set the 1X12 cab on a chair right next to me.....I'll keep you posted on the results!

I used my Ghia Saturday night thru a small, closed back cab with my old EV 12 in it. Really sounded nice. With my Lentz it had a real sweet top end.

wow ronnie, i get to do a fish fry in a few weeks, this must be the big gig in the sky,, well, my sky anyway,,, just wanted to chime in here,, i got a big bottom lopo cab and i put a celestion gold in it,, i can only imagine what another spkr matched to a ghia would be,, i have a ghia to, but use the lopo with my rx,, a big big tone,,, these lopo cabs are well worth the money,, very well made,, great quality at a low price. the one i have is a big bottom, front loaded,, similar in tone to a bogner cube,, not ported,, but very very adequate for 177$ shipped, you wont be sorry. wish i was in ohio to hear your ghia,,,
