The people spoke and we listened! We have sensed resistance to the pricing of the Maz 8 1x12 with a Celestion Blue standard at $1949. We have decided to release a lower priced Maz 8 1x12 combo with the Celestion H30 as the standard speaker at $1749. The Blue is still available for the regular up charge of $239. This brings the total of a Maz 8 1x12 with a Blue to $1988. If you have already ordered a Maz 8 1x12 with a Blue we will still honor the $1949 price. Look for more Maz 8s to ship towards the end of the month.

I'm glad it only started out the blue in it because I would have gone with the lower price speaker and then wished I had gotten the blue!! lol nice idea though giving some options for your customers Todd

I spent some time with Doc and his techs.....We took turns playing both side by side, and IMO the H30 sounded much better. Clear, and a nice even sound. The Blue actually sounded muted, and softer volume wise. I was playing pretty clean, Mike (Tech) was playing them close to dimed....and it yielded different results. I know this all subjective, but just some info to consider while making your decision. That was the first time I played the Maz 8, and was pretty impressed with it's versatility.....HHHMmmmmm Doubt the Mrs. would like to hear about another amp !haha

Now the sweet sounding more versital MAZ 8 combo is $150.00 cheaper than the MAZ 18 combo, and is enclosed in the retro 1X12 Studio Cab. Which now is more in line with my customers thinking when comparing the two models, I believe. But the Blue and all it's BRILLANCE will still be an option. DR.Z

Thanks for the new speaker reevaluation you guys! I ordered the Doc's original recipe with the Blue and I'm not budging. I feel the price for the Blue will be well worth it to me. Looking forward to breaking in that Blue in that little jewel~

DR.Z Hats off for honoring your customers' wishes, Doc (well, at least the reasonable ones). I know you were looking to keep production/options on this one simple & straightforward (e.g. no NR model, etc.) but at least now the price structure falls in line with wattage in the MAZ series. And who knows, maybe this'll bring in some new Z customers with the 8 as their first Z-amp.

Anytime Z ! Happy to help. And to the readers, I'm not bashing the Blue. We all know how this stuff is....everyone's personal sound is different. But will say if you want a louder clearer sound, go with the H30. The Blue was darker, but with a little high end bite, more like the presence control was up higher, but the rest of the frequency's toned down. If I played it turned up into distortion all the time, the Blue might be better. But I like to vary tones, use cleans and dirt. Hope this helps....sometimes describing sounds with words can be hard ! The Maz 8 is starting to haunt me....maybe I could sweep floors and shovel the drive way at the shop, and work for one......"Will work for Maz 8" haha It's a cool little thang !

I'm glad to have the Blue also, although I look forward to putting the MAZ 8 through some other cabs.

A 2x10 combo is offered. My sense is that to date the Studio Combo is garnering most of the purchases.

I wanna weigh in here. I'm running my Maz 8 Head with a 2x12 Z Best. I've seen where some are not getting the volume/headroom they need in a live band setting. In my case, with the 8 Head into the Z Best it has volume/headroom to spare. I do use an EP boost and BB pre with it also. Maybe the 1x12 combo is the reason for lack of volume in a live setting if your band gets really LOUD. Mine does and I love it!! I imagine a 4x10 would get that volume up also. I have been playing a Rt.66 for the past 4 years and I have to say the Maz 8 with the right speaker cab and a pedal or 2-3-4---- will rock just as Hard/loud as my 32 watt RT.66. I'm glad I went with the Head cause I knew I'd have to keep up with my other guitarist Marshall stack. Yep. 8x12's. He's crazy!! My Z's and that 2x12 hang right there with too! JMHO. Happy Z' ing!!

I had the same experience as Frankie yesterday. The Blue sounded kinda muted except on the higer frequencies. I know I need to break the speaker in some more...but I may do a speaker swap and see what changes.

I totally agree Frankie the G12H30 is a very good match up with the Maz amps. I actually like the G12H30 in the Maz 18 JR NR better then the blue. The blue has a nice sparkle and warmth to it but it also has that high end bite that you described that for lead tones didn't work too well for me. I also like going from clean to dirt and with the G12H30 I found a better bass response and better lead and clean tone. In the Maz 8 the blue sounded very good to me but with the 18 watter It makes more sense to have a more efficient speaker. I know alot of guys love the blue in the Maz 18. For my style and tastes the G12H30 worked better. I also found it took dirt pedals better then the blue.
