I know this thread has been posted before and i have used the 77' s before and ended up usimg 6CA7's . The 6CA7's just dont hold up it seems to.me. however the 77's are. Glorious!!. It makes the amp a bit beefier but at the same time it gives single coils Punch like that EL MaCambo SRV TONE. WITH. The SG and LP its ala Bad Co! IF YOU never have tried the KT 77's I recommend HIGHLY ;D

I liked the change to KT77's for my rig, it rounded out the bottom end although it did take away a little bit of the EL34 grind to my ears. I think the amp still has some of the raw 34 tone but with a bit more bottom end and fendery smoothness.

I should give that a try sometime. It gets talked about here every once in a while, and people seem to like the tones from the 77s.

Its well worth the trouble of pulling out the chassis and setting it up. Very Nice bottom bloom and the mids very warm and round. It almost sounds Plexish , Give a try, You can always go back. I was using the 6CA7's but they just didnt last that long

I was noodling around yesterday with the SRZ Using the 77's and dialed in a Fender Tone that was to die for. Running it through My 1x12 Z with a 12-65. The 77's are really noticeable on the bottom. I was amazed how I could turn the volume up and the gain down and just use a Timmy for just some Uhmmff and my guitars Volume to get a sweet clean to nice bluesy Sustaining tone. ;D Not so much with the 34's, Rolling up the Gain was also tonal Bliss, I have a Remedy on the way and I was thinking... can the Remedy top this?? The SRZ will never be replaced Nor will my Stangray. IMHO the SRZ is one of the most Versite amp offered.

I Agree I havent gone back to the 34's They just arent what I like with the 77's My SRZ has been sitting in the case due to I havent been gigging as Much But It is an Amazing amp, I love the way The Midrange just blooms and The Bass is Much more Noticable, BUMP+ For the Doc Shipping with 77's It would Sell better I think.

The good, the bad, and the ugly... THE GOOD, I managed to get my hands on another 6545 with a matching z-best which should arrive late next week. THE BAD, I sold my EZG a couple nights ago. THE UGLY, I think I have to sell my SRZ LE #22 and I literally just got it back with the KTs on Tuesday.
