Not really, just more choices available with a combo. :-)

There actually may be a difference. The 2x10 cab is configured differently in the back. There also may be different internal volume. I also don't know if the combo amp has the 'lens' thing going on in the front.

I played a Maz Sr. 2X10 combo, but I ordered a head & 2X10 cab setup. There is a difference. I wasn't disappointed mind you, it's a great sound, but it was different. You should play both if you can. I've given up on combo's though, I just like having the ability to mix and match speakers/cabs and amps. I even bit the bullet and turned my Bogner Shiva 1X12 combo into a head. THAT was not a cheap endeavor, but it was worth it. I think with all the speaker options out there, and having a few different Z cabs, you could get a LOT of mileage out of 1 or 2 amps and a few cabs.

Took my combo apart last summer to clean some crud off the speaker fronts; yes it incorporates the lens principle on the front baffle board. It still amazes me how open 2x10's sound in this little cab. For something completely different, I plug into a V30 closed back cab; try it!

Good input guys!!! The differences are small, its just not like night and day. Hivific you won't be dissapointed with either. For me like some of the other guys, I'll take a head and cab every time over combo.

I like separate head and cab for variety of speaker cab options.
