Z-Brothers....Ghia GAS got me I couldn't take it any longer...next week I start a 12 Step program to get me grounded but until then...I've never met a Z amp I didn't love..... ;D. I will report on fellow Z-Brother "Dizeased" former Ghia as soon as it is in my possession. OK Steve! (Benttop) your next ;D Cheers

GuitarZ might be next. My birthday is coming up next month, and I'm think that a Ghia would be a very nice present. The wife seems to agree.

I may be right behind both of ya. Richeray got a Ghia about 6 weeks ago. All it took was playing his for about a half hour and I knew I was in trouble. Another friend of mine is likely to become a Z Brother as well, he's very close to pulling the trigger on a CG. It would be his first, but what an introduction to the Z amp addiction!

A very wise move to keep the ole wife in the loop about such things. Z Amps are particularly difficult to conceal, speakers on the other hand ;D. That's a nice '68 ya got there! I had a '71 w/P90's and a stop bar tail piece up until 1999 when I got stupid and traded it for a really nice PRS. Shoulda kept it but you know the story. Cheers

;D ;D ;D Ghia is here and sounds awesome....now I can say I don't miss my '56 Tweed Deluxe! The Ghia is so easy to dial in the perfect tone what can I say that hasn't been said before!? Well my Fralin Vintage Hots are a little to hot on the treble so I had to back the tone down but that is just not a problem. And I will bet if I were competing in a mix I would roll it right back to 10. Thank you Ron aka "Dizeased" who was a pleasure to deal with and did a fabulous job packing it up for shipping, you da Man Ron!

Stan - I'm very, very, sad to see my Ghia go. [/img] I'm glad it arrived safe and you're able to enjoy it already. [/img] Keep us posted with any tonal experiments and changes, pedals, tubes, etc. that you try. It's been a pleasure to deal with you. Thanks, Ron

Hey Ron, yes I will let you know how it goes. My initial impression is the Ghia responds better to buckers than single coils but that could just be me. So far the Les Paul sounds really good and the McCarty PRS sounds by golly awesome in either mode, bucker or coil tap . It was love at first sight, yes even before I plugged her in, is that bad I can't believe Benttop doesn't have one of deeezz ;D. OK nuff said, back to the studio......work, work, work...... ;D

Oh nooooo...I don't need to hear this about a Ghia. I am having chest pain right now for a Red head .Been holding from getting one for quite some time so that I can save some fund for a 6L6.I better get out of the Ghia section before I pull the harm is done.

Told you about that Les Paul. It sounds great with the Rt 66 opened up. With the Ghia, it sounds great at any volume. How can such a small simple amp be that good? If I wanted to describe to someone what Dr. Z amps sound like, I would simply play the Ghia!

Hey Dock, Gee I thought you had 2 of every Z amp ;D. Man the Ghia is on top of it, she sounds awesome, plenty of clean headroom, kick-in the OCD and now we're growling right where I like it with just a touch of Drive. Hot dayum my ears are a rangin!

I'm in real trouble here. I'm going to see BW play at BB's tonight with Richeray, it may be too much for me at that point. I forsee a phone call to my nearest Z dealer for a Blonde!

Yeah, I'm really happy to hear ya like it guitarstan. Tonight could be the end of my Ghia gas. I know sooner or later I'm getting one, but it'll probably be sooner. Hearing BW play one in person is gonna be a blast. I'm walking out the door right now. Play it loud and proud tonight man.

Enjoy, Drew

Enjoy, Drew I'm still experimenting with speakers no conclusions yet. One thing of interest the Ghia sounds awesome with buckers or my TAG (single coil) but the Strat with Fralin Vintage Hots just isn't doing it for me, weird, because the Strat sounds perfectly awesome with the Ray and the Maz. Who knows? I'm not worried about it just can't figure it out Sounds fine in the clean range with the guitar volume backed off but loses the juice when cranked up high. Love the amp, it's a keeper for sure! ;D

I would think that a C-Gold should be awesome with Ghia.

Yes Doc, based on today's experimentation the C-Gold and Blues are awesome. So is the Weber Silver in a Thiele 1x12 cab. The Blues are mounted in a 2x12 3/4 closed back THD cab, I have not tried it with just one speaker like so many say is the way to go. Not sure if I want to cut the parallel speaker jack jumper, I would forget and blow them up I am sure ;D. It also sounded very punchy with a Tone Tubby ceramic. A very versatile amp, very pleased with it but it does not like my Strat....go figure.

My Ghia officially moved past my beloved Kendrick Friday night at the Duck. Wish you could have come by Stan. I don't know if I finally found the sweet spot, but it's never sounded so good. Almost like it knew one of it's brothers was close by...

Hey Stan, I have a couple of Doc's small cabinets like in your picture. One has a C Blue, which sounded awesome with the ghia, but when I play the G12H30 with the Blue, it sounds even better. The Blue compresses more and is brighter, while the G12H30 has this great driving bass sound. I think it is good to use speakers that compliment each other and give you a wider range. This amp is so good I can't stop talking about it.

Since she is the principal bread winner....well you get the rest . I thought your Kendrick sounded awesome the last time I heard you so if the Ghia sounded better that is very exciting. You got my curiosity up about your SP43, hope you can bring it by in June. I am struggling with my Strat and Ghia, no problems with any of my other guitars. Not sure where to go with it. Swapping speakers has helped but is not the whole story. Perhaps our Z amps are cosmically connected and now that I have three heads and two cabs my studio is probably generating some serious signal strength ;D

I am still experimenting with speakers, havent decided what sounds "best" yet.

Hey Stan, Now that you've had the chance to play with the amp have your tried different tubes, power and pre-amp. It's a blast and I was amazed at the difference in power tubes! I've not experimented with rectifier tubes yet. That's funny that your strat isn't happening??? Maybe a tube swap will change that?

Drewtunes, I was thinking the same thing. My Strat loved the CG, it wasn't MY Ghia unfortunately. Stan, are you not getting enough gain with the strat or is it too bright a combination?

Drewtunes, I was thinking the same thing. My Strat loved the CG, it wasn't MY Ghia unfortunately. Stan, are you not getting enough gain with the strat or is it too bright a combination? You nailed it, not enough gain. I even tried straight into the amp taking the pedal board out of the signal path, no difference. Yet the Strat sounds awesome with the Stingray and the Maz 38.....I am at a loss. It could possibly be the tubes but all my other guitars, listed in my signature, sound awesome thru the Ghia. I am at a loss. Perhaps I should try adjusting the height of my pups.... The Strat sounds fine at low to medium volumes but when the volume on the guitar is dimed it just doesn't have the mojo, it's weak, very weak.

I have had my Ghia for about 3 weeks. My Les Paul has Wagner Pups that sound great with my other amps, only fair on the CG. The Santana I sounds average on the CG. 63 Strat with Fralin Vintage Pups sounds spectacular.
Ordered a Tone Pros 1 x 12 cab with a C Blue in it. Can't wait.
