Well, okay, the best amp sold to me ;D.
How comes the KT-45 isn't more popular?
It really is an outstanding amplifier. I bring this up because I was playing at home last night plugged straight in. Well, with an Airbrake on the 4 click. Treble and Bass maxed with the Volume at noon. Using my guitar volume to hear the tones I wanted while I played. Z-Best. Outstanding tone.
Desert Island amp for me!

I was just watching the vid on the Z site after almost buying a Route66 on ebay. I really like how angry and aggressive the 45 sounds. It's now on my list along with a Mazerati and Prescription Jr. As soon as I sell a couple old Mark Sampson Matchless heads I'll be looking for one.

Yup, it's hard to get much talk about the KT45 going; here and on The Gear Page. I'm very glad I took the plung on it. I love that I don't have a huge core tonal difference between it and my Z28; which of late is my go-to-amp for almost every gig.
BUT, after owning one I can see why it's not more popular; It's *so* powerful! The longer I play guitar (23 years no) the more I realize that a good 15 - 22 watt amp can cover *almost* anything for *most* players. Hence why there's been such an explosion of these types of amps in the past several years. And this is why I think Dr. Z's line is so popular - he has so many killer amps in this format.
The KT45 is an awesome amp though. I'm looking forward to college basketball season to really gig with mine a lot. I play about 2 games a week in a large auditorium - the primary need of my 50 watt amp slot. My KT45 is taking over for my TopHat Ambassador 50 watt combo.

If people could play one, they'd want one instantly, for sure. In fact, I've always kind of ignored anything about the KT-45. BUT, I got the chance to play one recently (well, technically it was the "45" side of a 6545), and WOW do I really want one now. To my ears it was loud, punchy, clean bliss that would slay a Twin Reverb.

I regret selling mine years ago, but much like my 100w Marshall and other amps I had no use for such a loud amp. With so many moves it was hard to justify holding on to it.

You see, I want one!! I adore my Z28, and just know I would love the KT45 - it's just too much amp for the gigs I play But I'm happy to keep talking (and listening) about it all day! The more pics, audio and video you guys post, the happier I'll be ;D

The KT does things that have not yet been adequately documented on video. Justin (Hohn) was just here and I think he was surprised how versatile the KT is, even at lower volumes. Its got a fantastic clean sound, especially with Strats and Teles. He and I agree that it rocks for Knopfler tones. It's way more than just "Pete Townshend" although it'll happily do that too (at a higher volume).

I think Mark (basement enthusiast) was also surprised by what the KT45 (albeit in the 6545) could do at reasonable volume when he was over last week. Indeed--I was shocked to see that, while hooked up to 4x10's and with the volume at 3:00, it was definitely not the loudest amp in the room. (Or, at least, not as perceived by the ears.) But even then, if you back off the volume a bit, it still sounded good at lower settings. It's really a stellar amp--I gotta get one. As I think many others have stated before, I'm thinking it'd probably be the best "pedal platform" amp available.
