I've been considering changing to a lighter weight Head and cab set up for a while now and was looking for some input re: the possible value of my SRZ65RC. It was #7 madeand has two Green Backs. I changed power tubes to KT77's a few months back. I would rate it an 8 out of 10 cosmetically with a few battle scares on the tolex and a small dent on the Mahogany face plate. It is defiantly a player/workhorse, not a museum piece for sure. It has been on the stage with a lot of much higher priced boutique amps and more than held it's own. I'm just putting my toes in the water now and may chicken out for fear of the inevitable sellers remorse. That being said my aging back and ever lengthening basement steps have their own opinions on the matter. Looking for some honest/realistic values and opinions. Thanks guys!--------Chili

My best guess is $1,500 to $1,800. Market doesn't price for early Zs yet. There has been one that has not sold that has been on the market for $2,000. Hopefully you are not looking for a whole lot more than that because you may have to wait until the market rebounds - definitely still at bottom of trough!
Just look at BST - 6545s that are going for $1,300; Stangray for $950, Ghias for $700.

I think what your saying is more than realistic. I was going to mention that my combo looked exactly like the one posted from last years Z fest (#1 I think) Maybe there's a rich Oil sheik out there who's a fellow Z nut. Or maybe a tele playing country superstar who's just got to have lucky #7!

One of the other factors is that the tone for the SRZ65 really hasn't changed - the new ones sound very similar to the originals.

It would be tough to get rid of at any price. Although I would listen to trade or other offers.

I wouldnt sell to begin with. I dont agree with the saying the RI sound like the ones made when the doc was putting them together. My old RH is my A-Z along with my Ray. I wouldnt take. Pennny less than $2500. You know what the #6 RH with reverb and an FX loop sold for. i was there my best friend bougjt it !!!. Its smoking. I would.have bougjt it if he didnt:)) do yourself a favor hang on too it and start saving or buy something that s more gig friendly easy on the back etc.... That amp was the flagship of Z Amplification:))

Wow thanks Jamie! I agree that there's a lot of mojo in that combo. My tech just went over it from head to toe and laughed at how well built it was. The only thing he did other than a re tube and bias was to isolate the reverb tank in a bag and mount it to the lower back panel. I was getting feedback when the verb was set over 3 or 4. Problem solved and the verb has never sounded better.
