Hi to the Group.... I have a question that I would like input on... I recently purchased (as of Yesterday) a USED 66 and the condition appears to be in excellent "plus" condition... My playing habits are as follows: I like CLean sound, Chet Atkins style... I will be only playing (& practicing) at home in a carpeted basement... I have a Gibson Les Paul and a Heritage 555 model.... My question is: Is this Amp head PURE Overkill I know that I do not need this much "power" but I got this amp Head at a very reasonable price and do have a return policy... Using this rt 66, would I be doing more harm to the tubes and etc. by playing the Volume control say around the 9 or 10 o'clock position your comments and/or suggestions will be most welcome, indeed.... thanks in advance; carl

The 66 has a wonderfully fat clean tone. Keep the tone controls below noon and you will love it. Might want a treble booster (I use a AM beano boost) out front to brighten it up a bit or a RC booster. Great amp. I use mine with a gold. And depending on how loud you play might want an airbrake. Mine is on 2 clicks usually in my apartment.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on a great purchase. Here's some karma to get you started. You certainly won't hurt the amp or the tubes by running the volume low like that. I used to run the volume on mine right around the same until I got an iso cab for my speaker cabinet. It's a great sounding amp with great cleans.

+1 on a clean boost like the RC Booster. I use an Air Brake to help tame the volume. Such a great amp, good purchase and congrats.

Thanks much for the replies.... Much appreciated.... Being a newcomer on the forum, What is a "kerma" carl It's nothing more than having some fun really. The exalt and smite links are at the bottom of the area where your name and avatar are located. If you like what someone has posted you "exalt" them or give karma. If you don't appreciate what was said you can smite someone and they would loose karma. Most here stay off the smite button as some take it very personal after being smitten. Like I said it's all in fun. You can only exalt someone once an hour. I guess it needs time to reboot.

Congrats on the new amp. I'd spend some time with it, it has some nice tones at lower volumes.
