Most of my playing lately has been on my acoustic. I've been trying to get the hang of playing some bass lines along with some noodling on the upper strings, and by golly it's hard. I figured that if I play the same thing enough times that eventually it might start coming to me, but you know, it takes a lot of reps! Anyway, I got bored tonight and went down to put a battery in my wah and see how it sounds on the Z-Wreck. Sounded pretty cool, actually, but I decided not to record that, and recorded this (which is what I've been playing on my acoustic) instead. Fingered Blues CS Strat > Z-Wreck > THD Hot Plate (-12db) > Z-Wreck Cab Rear switch set for speed Volume: 2 o'clock Treble: 2 o'clock Bass: 9 o'clock Cut: 9 o'clock It starts out on the bridge pup because I forgot to switch it after I tuned up, but then I decided to leave it in case you want to know what that sounds like. You can hear it switch to the neck after a couple rounds. You can also hear it speeding up the entire time - my world for a drummer! Z-Wreck Blues

Fantastic job Steve!!! I really dig it man. Nice turnarounds, you can hear your fingers working the strings...nice! Must be a floating bridge on that Strat? You can tell when you bend and the bass line goes slightly flat...still though this is great great stuff!

Never thought about the floating trem and having that droning bass line affected, but I can sure see how that will happen. Maybe best use the Les Paul for this kind of stuff!

That is nice, Steve. Sounds like you had the guitar volume rolled back a bit. Or did you just manage it with finger attack?

Sorry, just noticed the question on the mic. I have a pair of Rode NT1's from when they first arrived on our shores. I have one down close to the front of the cab, and the second back about six feet and pointed 90 degrees off axis. I adjust them to nearly the same recording level, and that gets some stereo separation and room in the mix. Been doing it that way for a while now and when I do my part it works pretty well. And I like the sound of the NT1's.
