Just curious to know what would be the 'smartest' set up for a better sound, or if that even exists dealing with pedals on your board. This is how I set mine up, which mostly consist of BOSS using the BOSS pedalboard....Amp-Chorus Ensemble-Octave-Compressor-Tuner-BB preamp distortion-Wah-Guitar.....does it make a difference in sound if i put the tuner in first before anything else, i know you should have the wah last, and after the distortion, anyone wanna give me some advice? Thanks

I'd put the tuner first but that's just a habit. I like wah before drive pedals. I consider that a drive pedal is emulating a distorted amp so a wah would be before it.

My rig: Wah to overdrives to time effects to tuner to solo volume boost. An a/b switch to take the tuner entirely out of the chain isn't a bad idea.
I like the wah first because I figure that most of the old cool guitar tones consisted of a guitar going into an amp set to explode. If there was a wah, it was between these two components, at least before effects loops became common. BEFORE the ODs you're sweeping the eq of the guitar only... AFTER, you're sweeping the eqs of everything going into the amp.

Pretty standard path for the items listed: Amp-Chorus Ensemble-Octave-Compressor-Tuner-BB preamp distortion-Wah-Guitar
Guitar > TUner (better if out of the circuit via A/B switch or Tuner Out of a Ernie Ball volume pedal**) > Octave/Wah (pitch and wah first, order depends whichever sounds better to you) > Comp/BB (depends on which you like better - some like the comp pre Drive, some post drive) > Chorus/Delay > Amp
**If you do use a Volume pedal, it's nice to have it in the path right before your delay so you can kill the volume and the delays will continue to naturally decay.

i never like any compressors after OD/Dist boxes. i always put mine before it unless i know for sure i *never* use the 2 of them together.

I usually don't either, but I definitely prefer the Keeley compressor after the BB preamp. My other drive/boost pedals are after the compressor

To me the virtual order could be: Guitar > Wha > Comp > Boost > OD > DIST > Modulation (Ch, Pha, Fl, Trem, Oct) > Delay > Rev > Amp

Okay guys,
What order would you use if, like my Maz Jr, you had an effects loop?
What is the best use of this loop (for single amp/spkr set-up)? Then, same Q, but now how to wisely use loop in 2 amp/spkr set-up?
I was reading about buffers in another thread. Considering tone loss due to lenghthy, even true bypass pedal chains, and also my other concern of popping when these pedals are engaged.
Today I am going to rearrange the chain, although I will do final rendition when new Furman chorus pedal board arrives (been on backorder). I want to use chorus in stereo as my last pedal to feed 2 amps (Maz 18 & Fender Pro Jr).... Since I envision one pedal chain into 2 sound levelled amps, I probably can't use the Z's effects loop.
Here's the toyz and the plan, Stan:
G > NS-2 > [Keeley Mod Wah > RC > Keeley Comp > FD 2 > Keeley Looper (>> MXR 90 > Keeley Trem >>)] > Ernie Ball > Maxon AD-999 delay > Boss Reverb > Analogman Bi-Chorus/ Stereo to Z and Fender amps
Plan Strobostomp 2 out of Ernie Ball. Lost in space: Boss EQ. Have George L's in .155 and .225, will use 155 for trials, and final set-up will be .225.
Could the Delay, Reverb and chorus go into effects loop of Z and then the stereo out of the chorus split into the spkrs of each amp? I just can't imagine leveling the sound on the Fender since it unlike the Z has no master volume.
Any ideas?

Mine goes 70's Ibanez compressor, 70's Cry Baby wah, OCD version3, Fuzz Face clone, TS-808 modded TS-10, univibe clone, volume pedal, Digitech RP100 for echo, delay, rotary speaker and vibrato. The theory is compressor would amplify noise so it goes first, wah sounds much better shaping tone before distortion so it goes next, different distortions/overdrives, univibe gets washed away if before distortion, volume pedal before echo/reverb because as you drop the volume you want the tail of the echo/reverb to hang. My theory anyway and probably stolen from Craig Anderton, effects guru. Brett p.s. univibe sounds best before a slightly driven amp, as do TS and OCD pedals! Also I use Canare cable for clean signals on the board.
