I am about to add a Keeley Compressor and Looper to my pedalboard. Based on peoples experience, is this a good choice or should I consider other alternatives. Thanks. John

Depends on what you're going for. It's pretty much a Ross clone. Pretty tight and punchy, adds a lot to overdriven tones. I have one that I use a bit, but I prefer my Demeter Compulator -- the optical compressor is a little smoother and more organic to my ear, better for chicken-pickin'/poppin' clean tones. YMMV.
What's the Looper for?

Agree for Keeley comp and Looper too: Even if you have few pedals (true bypass too) in the chain it will work to preserve tone by loss of frequencies.

The Keeley is a great pedal but mine is the 4 knob and I get confused! I went back to my little green Guyatone ST-2. Overlooked but great little pedal. It's weird to use batteries with but I don't like batteries so it's all good to me? I could probably be talked into selling my Keeley?

I liked mine but found it to be a bit too squishy. I even futzed with the trim pot inside and couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted. After a yearlong love/hate relationship with the thing I just decided compression wasn't for me. I never could figure out where it sounded best in the chain either... oh well.. each to his own.

I tried the Keeley for a while, but ended up switching to a Barber Tone Press. It just fit my needs better. I like the blend feature on the Tone Press.

Thanks for the replies. I looked up the Barber Tone Press and that does look like a great pedal for the price. I mostly play a strat clean with single coils and it looks like it has some flexibility with the blend feature.

Hey Jp, I use a Keeley Comp (2 Knob) and 2 of his mini loopers on my rig, I really like them. The Comp is the first usable Comp I've ever owned, I've tried several before picking up this one. I think it's a great choice. If you pick it be sure to try your OD pedals in front of it too, it sounds great there, I run 1 before and 1 after the Comp. I find it also helps to even out my Wha for clean tones. [glow=limegreen,2,300]-J-[/glow]
