Anyone else use two different boards? I just got a call last night to audition for a gig doing a wide variety of covers (bar band stuff). Now I like some pedals better than others for more "fun" or my taste, but they don't really apply for this kind of band. For instance, I don't use delay that much but for this band it's good to have, or I like to have some fun with an Octavia, but in this band it probably won't get used, same thing with my Vibe.
So with one board I plan to put.
Chorus OD/Cleanish boost (one pedal) Distortion Tremolo Delay Tuner Wah
And on my "other" board
Vibe OD/Cleanish boost (one pedal) same as previous Octavia Fuzz Wah Tuner
Anyone else find this a necessity?

Lefty, I am thinking of (actually ripped my big board apart tonight) making 2 separate boards as well. 1 for my Z rig and 1 for other stuff, I also play in an acoustic guitar duo, my main board has proven to be too much of a "good thing" for Z Jr (you guys saw it on the Pedalboard Pic's thread. ) I think the Z takes a less is more attitude with my style of playing. I got it down to my Wha, RC Booster, Keeley Comp, Maxon TS-808 Clone, AC Booster and Boss DD-2, the sound is much cleaner indeed. ;D I may need to find a good true bypass Chorus I'm not sure, the old Analog stuff I got is pretty noisy. I have about 8 or 9 pedals I use (no board yet) but I only use three, at most four of them (Crunch Box, Chorus, Strobostomp, and sometimes a Wah). I've been comtemplating a board for a while but I don't want to take those other 6 or so pedals and never use them.

Yup, I use 2. 1 smaller for flight dates and grab-n-go shows.
1 bigger for studio, cover band (line6 modelers and several drives), under-the-bus for artists (gets tweaked a bit for their needs).
I've actually started using the smaller board all the time because it's so much easier to move around. Bigger one has more tones/flexibility but what a pain in the arse to haul.

I use the 2nd for acoustic gigs, with a boss chorus and a Boss loop station, and taking from first RC booster and T-Rex Replica...

Two boards. Got tired of rewiring the big one on the fly to use with my 38's effects loop vs the Carmen Ghia. The CG board is basically the core of the big one: modded SD-1, Gainster, MI Crunch Box, Barge DB-2 for solo boosts, then a Fender tuner. Big board is the same now but has a Clyde and an ancient DOD FX65 in front of the ODs, with the tuner ab'd out of the chain and the Barge DB-1 and Ibanez delay in the FX loop.

I'm like Dan, I put together a smaller board and just ended up using it all the time.

I made a small 'grab & go' board out a double tall zippered CD wallet. It holds 2-3 pedals, and I use it mostly when I'm leading the youth worship team at our church. Toss in a tuner and an OD (for electric) or my DI (acoustic) and I'm good to go. I just don't need my full band board most days at church.

Count me in. At least in theory at this point. My big board is more versatile, but I need/want a smaller "grab & go." I'm trying to decide if I want to build it, buy one from Rondo, or ?

Sometimes it's good to put a second smaller board together just to audition new acquisitions or see how certain pedals play with others.
I too seem to be using the smaller board a lot more. It's just some plywood with rubber feet, and a Godlyke, but it can be easily tweaked if I want to use the loop on the 38 or left alone if I don't.

I can see the wisdom of two boards. Unfortunately, I don't play out-- well, except for when I was doing the church worship leader thing.
So for now, I'm just a living room wannabe, and one big board works just fine. I just got my first board (pedaltrain pro softcase) and I *LOVE* it!!

I have 3 different sized boards, I can use them all together or just setup whatever I need on whichever board is most appropriate.

Hi Lefty,
I've been using two boards for about quite some time now, maybe 15years. I have a board that's for playing live and I have a board that's for practice and session work. The live board is a swiss army knife type set up that can get me most any sound I need to cover a tune and the session board is more for what I like in the studio. They go like this.
Live Board
Cry Baby Wah [In a loop for cocked wah effects] Fat Box Boost Barber LTD Boss OD-1 [Don Butler modded] Barber Direct Drive [old one no internal pots] Line 6 MM4 [Keeley modded for sound and volume problems] Line 6 DM4 [Keeley modded] Boss TU2
Session Board
Vox Wah [vintage one w/ true Bypass mod] Barber Direct Drive [old one] Voodoo Labs Tremolo Boss CE2 chorus [1979] Boss DM3 delay [1979]
I have other OD's that I'll take with me to the studio if I want something different but that's my starting point.
Peace, Toneking

I've been running 2 boards for a while. One for bars and one for the church. It's mainly because I have too many pedals, and I get tired of haulin' stuff back and forth all the time. Gettin' old ain't a sin, it's just unhandy as hell.
Bar Board: Planet waves tuner Visual sound Chorus/Delay RMC 1 Wah RMC Compressor Ibanez Supertube Boss SD-19Keeley Mod)
CHurch Board: Fender Tuner Electra Chorus Morely wah Boss Phaser Digitech Tone Driver Bad Monkey (Humphrey Audio Mod)
And, it's fun to mix and match when needed. I'm planning on posting pics of these boards on the "Post your pedalboard pic" thread.
Later..............weedman
