I've been thinking about using a graphic, or some other kind of EQ pedal, so I can switch up tones with a tap-o-the-toe. I don't want distortion, just a clean EQ change. I hear the Boss is hissy and have been thinking the MXR 10 band might be the one. Any other suggestions?

You can get a mod kit for the GE-7 from Monte Allum's to take care of the white noise. A cool mod, and cheap at around $20 (its DIY, though).
The MXR is nice, but I'm always scared of the relability on them. I've had a number of modern MXR switches fail, and its not an easy fix since they're PCB mounted.

Ibanez GE9. I have one on my pedal board. I don't have any experience with any other makes but from what I've read it's quieter than the Boss and MXR. However, the 9 series pedals are getting a bit harder to find.

The cheapo Danelectro EQ (fish n chips) is quiet, tough, and works well.
And at $40 or so, you can't get off much cheaper. It's by far the best bang/buck in any EQ pedal I'm aware of.

I've got the MXR 10 band EQ, I like it. I run it in the loop of either my Shiva or my Marshall for solo boosts. The only draw back is that it won't run off of batteries, you either have to use the wall wart plug that comes with it or run it off of a PP2 or DC Brick etc..... and it runs at 18 volts.

I have an MXR 10-band that I bought a while back for an acoustic rig, but I ended up using a parametric type instead. It's a nice sounding EQ with a boost. As I recall, one thing I didn't like about it was that it seemed to change the sound even with all the sliders set flat. If you end up deciding to try the MXR let me know as I'll probably sell the one I have soon. It's in mint condition with the box, AC adapter, manual, etc.

I was interested in the sniper mod pedal because I have read a lot of good things about them. When I googled it though I only came up with a dead link. I may go this route.

It looks like Kevin is using his myspace account for his business now. As far as EQs go, this is the one to get.

I think Barber makes one aimed at amps with limited tone stacks (i.e. Tweeds and Z's). I've been considering that unit.

Yep, I could really go for one of these with the 'Rati. This amp ('Rati) seems really picky about the room............First Z I've had that with.

Hey, Guys, I love my R66 and Z's in general because of no knobs, no complication, and Barber seems to be a very good box but... why should we need an EQ pedal to complicate our sound??!! (Well... mine it's just curiosity...

I want more mids on some songs than others.

So... maibe there is some new GAS for me: what you say is right, I can tell that sometimes I hear a loss of mids thru' the mix with R66, but I've always thought it was 2000's guitar's foult.
I will try with some '60/'70's strats or LP to hear if I should need an EQ too!!!

Billyguitar... thanks... you put me into a new GAS!!! ;D I've been on Barber site and EQ seems very very interesting, you made me notice something I was hearing but I couldn't explain. And it was some mid loss thru' the mix in some stuffs or solos. I'm asking about an 8ve pedal but an EQ could have priority... I thought my GAS was gone since my last pedal bought in sept (RC Booster). But when you think it's gone and lower the guard you're sick again!!!!

Question: where would you place an EQ pedal? before/after boost?? before/after OD, Distortion?
