I'm obsessed with Trem. I don't use it all that much per se, but it sure is fun to sit back and warble with the best of them. I can't get enough...I'm looking for one that is truly "vintage" sounding. Here's the run down.
Have: Demeter-love it, but I wish it had a little more speed. Have: BYOC-dig it a lot, but a bit of LFO noise. Had: Fulltone Supa-Trem, like it a lot, but foot print is a little awkward and I don't need the hard/soft switch. Had: Voodoo Labs, very good but the knobs are a little close together.
I've been eyeballing the Luxury Twin-Rate Tremolo, great features and price...any thoughts? Wasn't BW talking about this one?

Yes, BW suggest's that one. I have a "Swamp Thang" that is not the one for me, I've been exposed to the Boss lately, one Keeley modd3d and one stock and they were quite nice in a live situation.
I plan to sell the swamp thang and got with either the Lux Twin or Keeley moded Boss.

I've only had one, and it was a Supa Trem-- the older small-knob variant.
It crapped out on me, or more accurately, my toddler daughter destroyed by stepping on it (bent pot shafts, etc).
I LOVED the sound of that supa-trem.
The hard/soft switch is actually pretty useful-- I'd set the mix to a mild proportion and leave the trem on all the time. On the "soft" setting I'd have an enhanced clean tone with a barely-perceptible trem effect. On the "hard" side, I'd have more pronounced trem that actually drew attention to the effect.
This is one of the few pedals I've had that I'd consider buying twice....

Lefty, check out the Powerglide. Ed Rembold told me he's working on a Stereo version of his dual channel trem. I'm on the waiting list for the stereo version. It says it can be mono/mono or mono/stereo or stereo/stereo. And they can work in pan or together. One channel can be blackface and one can be on brownface.
Goodol'peachfan says it's better than the Toneczar Echoczar.

Used T-Rex Tremster at Bentley Guitar Studios in Parkville, MO for $140. He also has a little green Guyatone compressor for $50. I like mine a lot and went back to it from the 4 knob Keeley. Mark Bentley is a great guy and has a very nice website, www.bentleyguitars.com .

Lefty, what amp are you using? Why wouldn't a full fledged effect processor work for what you want?

Lefty, what amp are you using? Why wouldn't a full fledged effect processor work for what you want? Maz 18, and as for FX Processor....don't take this wrong but HELL NO. Those things are IHMO crappy at best. You might get one or two decent tones and the rest are hideous. Besides I'm very anti-digital It's not that I'm unhappy with my Trem tones, I'm just looking for the end-all be-all. The PowerGlide sounds pretty cool with it's Blackface/Brownface trems but the price tag and many knobs and switches turn me off.

I have the Luxury Twin Rate Tremolo. It sounds fine; doesn't change the tone at all and works like it's supposed to. I haven't tried another trem to compare it with. I'm not really into tremolos, I guess. Don't use it in the rock band or the jazz trio.

Have had a few. Favorite is the Keeley TR2. Quite nice! Can cover a lot of ground from mild to wild.

Digital has it's place - if you think about it, you go into the studio and put everything down in digital form, then walk away with a digital impression of the session in the form of a CD. Oddly, despite all of those bits there, when you stick it on your solid state stereo back at home, all those bits reconstruct and you hear those glorious tube tones you had in the studio. Yet you're listening through an D/A converter and all solid state amps. Fascinating. So I'm not anti-digital so much as anti-lame, and many processors are just that. I have a couple here though that are way cool...

I tried out the Frantone Vibutron, which in actuality is a tremolo. It's supposedly got a vintage vibe. Would like to try it again since I didn't spend much time on it. The nice thing is that it's got three wave forms: sine, triangle, and square. It would be really cool IMO if you could attach an expression pedal to a trem to change the rate. I'm guessing the Powerglide could do that?

I, er uh.... You didn't send me the Twin rate.... you let me try out your DGTM and your LUXURY DRIVE pedals... remember? anyway I didn't ask him to do that he offered to and just did it... Never was gonna say anything about it so every one didn't overwelm him with requests for his gear... like "hey buddy, can I borrow that Ghia for a spin"... or maybe "that 1x12 Maz" But now that he's said it, Just one of the MANY, MANY cool things that has happened, on this forum, and there have been MANY MORE behind the scenes that people don't know about... and others I know have had similar things occur... just the coolest forum and great bunch of guy's... a positive place in a negative world, makes me feel warm n fuzzy inside... ;D sniff... sniff...
