Just asking for your thoughts on an OD pedal for my Maz 18 nr I currently have a DS-1 with a T-von mod but it still sounds way too fuzzy for my taste just wondering if you think that the reason for that would be the pedal or maybe the low wattage amp and I am also running a 2X10 dr z cab would I be better suited to have a z-best to get those marshallesque tones without the fuzziness. I'm currently looking at getting a BB-preamp so if you could give me your thoughts I would appreciate it.

I run my Maz Jr. with the volume about 10:00 and have used several od/dist pedals. My favorite Marshall sounding pedal is the G2D Classic. I play in a band that does a lot of Skynyrd and ZZ Top. This pedal with my Maz 18 sounds great.

My Keeley BD-2 sounds great through it, and a little knob-tweaking will open up a few different options for it. I also did a gig a few months ago and borrowed a Fulltone Fulldrive. What I found with that was you have to have the space to crank it in order to get a really good sound, but when you do, it's great.

The Keeley TS9 (baked) & SD1 get some nice gain tones. Keeley BD2 for nice mid-gain/light clip tones.
Xotic BB is killer for those Marshally tones. Would also recommend a Barber Direct Drive for an older brown-sound type Marshall tone. Fulltone Fulldrive w/the boost engaged gets a nice but fairly compressed gain.
Lots of drive pedals out there to play with!

I think I'm the only Hot Cake guy around here. I love it with my Maz. I got both versions and use one for "a little hair" and the other for some mean crunch. Great pedals. Very transparent and responsive.
Also, I just got a Home Brew Power Screamer. Basic setup's standard Tube Screamer stuff, and not my cup of tea, but there's a little diode switch that turns into into a real chunky overdrive and really fattens things up, plus it has a boost switch to boot, for a little +10db action.

I play through a Maz Jr. w/ verb and have done every style of music you can imagine with this set up. First I set the Maz vol. around 10-11, the treble about 10, the mids around 8-9, and the bass around 11-1 depending on single coils or humbuckers. Master vol is set for the room. My pedal board is as follows, Cry Baby wah, Fat Box Boost, Barber LTD Silver, Boss OD-1, Barber DD, Line-6 MM4, Line-6 DL-4. This covers all my bases.

TK, That's about how I set mine too. Cut and volume is about 10:00 and mids stay about 8:00. Great clean sounds and works welll with every pedal I have tried.
