Dont'cha love it when you find something stuffed away for years, that ya long ago kind of wrote off as a yawn-er, and dig it out only to find that it's killin' !!! I dont know if it's rig changes or just musical maturity, but i just broke out a " in the box" Ibanez AD99 analog delay, i bought new in about 97'. Again i had written it off, maybe to short a delay time? ( it is only about 300ms ) or i dont know, ... but ya know what,... it sounded amazing for slapback, or rockabilly, to just about EJ length echoplex. VERY NICE, albeit somewhat limited in it's ability. Like christmas in sept. ! They're pretty hard to find nowadays too. I'm not much of an "effects" player but have been thinking about a T-rex for variety, obviously its more capable, and a superior pedal, but ya know what,.... i think i'm good for now with my new old friend!!

I've done that several times with my TS-9 - what a great old design. I get all wrapped around the axle with all of these boo-teek pedals and forget the TS-9 works right fine for a lot of stuff..

The thing about the ts-9 with me is I get tired of it. Like I will love the sound for about a month then just get tired of the way it breaks up and toss it for about 5 months. Then play thru it again and its like ahhhh yeah thats what that sounds like I like it.

I bought a Jax/Shin-Ei/Companion wah a few months back as a nostalgia buy (it was, like, $30.00 on eBay) because the first "real" wah I owned, in '75 or so, complete with volume/siren/"hurricane" settings was a Jax; after repairing the battery leads, drilling a hole for a power cable, and using some superglue on the rubber treadle cover, I was amazed to find that it's not scratchy, has a wonderful vowelly wah, and if it's attenuating the signal it's almost unnoticeable. I may just have to put my Clyde up for sale because of this little guy.
I used to pull my old '86 Rat out every so often to compare it to the buzzboxes I was trying out. They still pound the heck out of most of the high gain units out there. And Rats were probably actually the first REAL boutique pedal anyway.
All this TS talk makes me wish I still had my orange '76 Ibanez Overdrive ...

that's why it's not a good idea to sell old gear.

...or give it away. Someone gave me an old puke green TS back in the summer of '88. I didn't care much for it ("THIS is an OVERDRIVE?") and a year or two later gave it away to my rhythm guitarist in the next band on. I could have made several hundred bucks a few years later with that little mistake.

God i wish i could have a do over on some of those effectpedals i did the same with years ago. Original EH, mxr, ADA flanger! etc. I guess not being a wealthy man, ive always been torn between being a player or a collector. As a player i always have to get rid of something thats not doin it for me, to help cover the expense of searching for "the" sound, with the next big thing. As a collector sometimes it's hard to know whats gonna be hot, down the road. I guess i do like most, and probably go for the middle ground.
