So one of the down sides to not gigging any more is that I'm getting way behind on my playing - both technique and timing are real rusty just now. But you CAN find backing tracks with everything but guitar to utterly highlight your bad technique and timing, so that's what I've done. I got this track off of www.guitarbackingtrack.com/ - they have lots of backing tracks of this quality (certainly much higher than my added track!) This has the CS Strat into the Z-Wreck through the THD Hot Plate at -12 db. I added a bit of compression and reverb but to be honest the track needs a few passes with some automation to get the levels under control, and prolly a few more years of practice to even attempt such. I left all of the clams in there (and there are several whoppers) just so you know. Here's the track: CrossfireTakeOne.mp3 (10 megs)

Wonder where that track is originally from? Sounds like Malford on vocals.

Hey, that sounds fine, Steve. How'd you have the Wreck set for that take?

I'll have to put the BL in there and give this a shot. Way more T and C than I'd thought, so the high V must be, sort of, compensating.

That is something I'm noticing - the volume either affects the tone, or affects my perception of it. When I don't dime it, that's way too much T and C for sure.

I've been messing around with higher T and C at low volumes for chording and ambient effects more than as a lead tone. Even then, I seldom have them above noon simultaneously.

I like it, Steve. Very impressive on its own, never mind considering your ears' condition.
