I have a Fulldrive II that I have been running at 9 volts. I understand they can take up to 18 volts. And people in this forum have commented that running at 18 volts sounds better.
Can you describe why?
I have a 15volt wall wart from another piece of gear, and it works with the Fulldrive II. I A/B'd them and could not tell any difference. However, I only did it for a few seconds and I'm attenuating a lot (small basement), so that might have something to do with it. I know I'm still 3 volts short of the 18, but I figure that should get me close.

I was close to getting rid of mine until I started running it at 18V. To my ears the difference is like night and day. I only use mine in the FM mode, so I've never really A/B'd the other modes at 9 and 18 V. But in the FM mode it is much "smoother" and more "natural tube amp overdriven" sounding. I know these are overused cliches, but I can't think of other words to describe the difference. Get an 18V adaptor and give it a try!

I've only used it with Comp Cut...the setting I use for country tele sounds.
I use FM with my route 66. I'll crank that up today and see if I can tell a difference.

I'll try it when I get my board done (with 18V power).
Meanwhile, I'm pretty happy with my Fd2 MOSFET version. very warm, but almost too warm, you know? I dunno if it would be that useable with humbuckers, but with singles it's nice...

Compared both OCD FatBoost And FD2 Mosfet with 9 and 18 v adapter (obviously in my R66) With 18 v: - OCD sounds great, harmonics, character, high, basses, etc. I've heard the difference. - FatBoost the same, in particular I've noticed that it is cleaner, overdrives less and quality of attack and body is improoved. -FD2 depends by the mode: in FM and compcut, where highs and clearness are already enphatized, i heard less difference than 9 v. In vintage mode (darker sound) the same as other pedals.
My idea: if you still have 9v adapters replace them with 18v, Mike Fuller tells the thruth.

I use my fulldrive II in FM (humbuckers) and comp cut (twang single coil) mode....never vintage.
So that's why I can't tell the difference.
