I'm another Boss CE-2 owner. It's the MIJ black label/black screw version. I never thought I would own a chorus, but I was told good things about it as a "phat" lead boost on low settings...I personally hated choruses (not to mention Boss pedals), but the CE-2 was the best valued (i.e. cheapest) purchase on my board. It's a simple pedal, and it does a good job
For new stuff, I think Analogman makes good stuff. But if i got another chorus, I would get the Retro-Sonic CE-1. Same as the Boss, But much much much smaller and quiter in terms of background noise. Plus Vibrato and a wider speed range.

I had a CE-2 for many years and recently sold it. I have a DLS Chorus-Vib, and it is the best chorus I have owned or tried, and I go back to when a chorus pedal was a must on any pedalboard. The DLS Chorus-Vib is stereo and true bypass and it has very useable vibe and leslie sounds too, and it's only about $180.

I have an old Boss CE-2, made in Japan Green label, that I have had for about 8 years. I don't use alot of Chorus but this pedal sounds real good when I do. Wish it was true bypass and I want to A/B it with a Fulltone, but it does what I need it to do.

After trying several others, I finally got the Fulltone Choralflange, and I'm done. It sounds as good or better as any I've tried, and has the mix control and doesn't overload with hot input signals like the CS9. Top notch design and build quality!

I just traded off my Red Witch Phaser for the Retro-Sonic CE Chorus. I'll let you guys know how it sounds with the ghia when it gets here.

Fulltone Choralflange sounds great. I'm a big fan of the ZOOM Choir 5050 (discontinued stomp). Arion SCH and CE-2 are ok too. Might even throw in the CH-1. Really depends on what you're looking for - a touch of color (i.e. barely added effect) or a noticable 'sound' (i.e. lots of added effect).

I'm a huge fan of the AnalogMan Clone Chorus. I have the Bi-Chorus...which is really helpful for switching between settings (I like to use one for a Leslie-type tone and the other for a subtle chorus). The Analogman chorus pedals seem to sound a little thicker or richer than the Choralflange. This may or may not be a good thing, depending on preferences. I dig it . However, the Choralflange is most certainly more versatile/fine-tune friendly.

I really dig my FoxRox TZF for chorus. It's all analog and I only use chorus once in a blue moon during cover gigs so it works well, either INXS or Zenyetta Mondatta era Police. It sounds really lush and it's an awesome flanger. Does some great vibe and leslie sounds too. A nice all around modulation pedal that just excels in the flange department. Sounds great in stereo too. Although anything sounds great in stereo thru a Z-28 and Route 66 ;D

Stay away from the EH Polychorus---unless you like you're chorus served up with a dose of nasty transistor clipping.

Update on the Retro-Sonic Chorus Ensemble I just got - S W E E T! It's definitely a different character than a Small Stone clone type chorus. It's not quite as thick I would say - which at first worried me then after about 10 mins it really started to grow on me. The chorus side on the CE will definitely get you a cool Police type sound (think Synchronicity II). I was amazed at how well it sounded clean and distorted. The vibe side is remarkably usable as well with some great leslie sounds (a la Trower). It's a keeper for sure. I thought I was a phaser guy until I heard this thing. Glad I traded off the Red Witch - it's a superb pedal but I find you can squeeze a chorus/vibe effect into more tunes than a phaser.. at least for me.

RS makes a cool script phase 90 pedal too, but its way too much $$ for me to justify since i dont' see much use for a phaser. But I use my CE-2 alot. I do really want a Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe though....

Rehearsed in the "Police" band the other night and my soundman/badcat owner/ mad pedal collector/ Police band bass player/ brought his Boss CE-1 in to try out. Kinda ugly and I was pickin' up the local radio station a bit but WOW that is the chorus sound! Very lush. Along with my vintage Ibanez AD-80, I'm pulling some great Police sounds, and it's lots-o-fun.

I have Fulltone Choralflange, It's great and very versatile. Chorus beats flanger section but the last works too. Very sweet, from vintage to noise.

Ive got a CE-1 i bought new in 77', ya know it sounds incredible, deep lush chorus, and the vibrato half really nails the magnatone thing and sounds great on stage for SRV-ish tightrope etc. , But ....... its so damn impratical for me. Its huge, heavy, 120v, etc., so,....... i just got an Analogman Bi-chorus with the deep switch. Very very nice chorus, probably great! It is different from the Old Boss tho, maybe not as thick and chewy, but has better clarity and noise ratio. With it in deep mode it approaches the ce-1's depth, but not quite. On the other half its cool because its identicle, and can go very fast for some pretty good leslie sounds ( for a chorus ). But i have to say its not as cool as the vibrato of the boss. I'm not sure if it's a keeper yet. Its definately one of the best, but i'm also not really an effects player either.

I have an old CE-2 that I sent to Keeley for his mod. Wow, what a difference. But, I'm going to have to say that the Analogman Chorus sounds a little better thru the Z's. AM is not as noisey.
