I'm running two H30's with my Jr. and I have started to wonder if two blues would give me more of "that tone". I know Mr. Paisley uses alnicos in everything and I gotta admit I've always loved his tone. I tend to prefer a darker tone, still one that cuts through the mix, but is warmer and darker than other guitar players. And I know that the Blues are known for their chime, but I thought with myself having my mid and treble at two, if Alnicos would give me more bite but still be dark.
I was reading up on Alnico's and they said that when the volume gets higher, they tend to compress more and give a more consistent tone than the ceramics I have right now. What does everything think? Are the blues worth the extra $700?

just get one blue and i think you'll be amazed. I'm running a blue with a g-12h 30 and it smokes! they compliment each other very well giving great lows and chimey highs! and makes for smooth or raunchy sounding overdrives

I enjoy it by itself of course but two 12's feels better and two different 12's (like the the G2h30) has a different sonic fingerprint. It also sounds great with my other Z's. I will alternate the Blue Dog with a Vintage 30 every once in a while but it doesn't last too long. You could try just one to see if it does it for ya - that is a chunk of coinage for two speakers

I once owned a RxJr with a Blue. I would not call it dark. Bright with a full body would better describe it. Would say if darker is your trip I would go with a 30w. B.Dog. Was told they are more like the warmer vintage Cel. Blue. The amp won't be as loud. The Gold might be a better over all speaker as I think it will go all the places the RxJr can go, but don't know if you venture all over the place or not.

Okay so I ordered two alnico blues from warehouse speakers. Broke them in for about 40 hours using my stereo and put them in my cab...... and the verdict is.......... eh. For the money they cost, 450, I couldn't tell that much of a difference between my H30's and the blues. I could hear a little voxyness come from them when I would hit a ringing chord. And they would punch differently, but it certainly wasn't the night and day difference I was expecting. And I wouldn't say they are better than the h30's. There were different and I could tell a difference but it wasn't like I liked one better than another. They were just different. So if you're looking to get a couple of blues to radically change your tone, I'd start other places like a great overdrive. But if you have money to burn then you might want to try them.
And if you order from Warehouse you can return them in 30 days no questions asked.

Ha ha too late. Already returned them. I'm sure I would have gotten more accustomed to the sound, but they weren't worth the 400 dollars. So now I've got 400 hundred to burn ha ha ha ha ha ha

What did you EQ amp to tame the sound? While not this night and day change in tone there was clearly a difference between the H30, Greens, and Blue that I ran my RxJr. Of course it might be the style your after.
