I like the Alnico Gold myself, but if you want more of a greedback feel, try the G12-65 - can't go wrong there either. The Remedy sounds pretty great with either one.

I am currently using a greenback (1/2 power only) but I found the Gold to be great and I am probably going to switch back to the Gold soon; both are great.
Gear I am blessed to have: Dr Z Z28 Head Dr Z 1x12 cab w/ Z12 (or Gold or Greenback sometimes) PCNS cables

It seems the Gold is a big hit for just about any Z amp. I'd like to try one, but for just under 3 bills I'd want to have complete confidence it'll sound good to my ears. I ran across this Guitar World demo and I was wondering if this is a good representation of the Gold.
I like the g12H-30 but its a bit bassy unless its compressed a little, I also tried a weber blue dog ceramic, and it sounds great. I have a few different cabs but this is in a Z 112, also an avatar 212. I share these ca=bs with a Z-28 and a maz18nr too.
I have tried all the usual alnico speakers gold 10 and 12, webers and I have to say I didn't like any of them they are really syrupy, I like the raw sound of the ceramics better.
62 Vibrolux
65 Deluxe
65 Bassman
66 Princeton (non reverb!!)
Z'less for the moment, had most all of them
Favorites: Z-28, M12, and Route 66
63, 04 Strats,
85 Tele
2003 LP Standard Plus
Ibanez Artcore AS-75
85 Guild DCE-5.
72 Guild D-25

See...this is what it's all about. I love the really syrupy sound of AlNiCo. They are also easier on my aging ears!
It's not which one is better...it's which one YOU like best. Everybody's likes and dislikes differ. That's the human in us....

I agree, and as much as we all compulse over the tone we like to play with, I'd bet $100 that not a single individual who listens to you play at home or at a gig can tell the difference when you change speakers or cabs! Probably even when you change amps!

oh yeah, and my fave is the G12H30 for a 1-12 cab.
Mostly a Tele player, through a DB4. Somewhere in Florida with Hammerhead Lincoln or The Lacklusters. Hear us on Spotify or iTunes or YouTube! Also check out Elliott James’ albums “The Big and the Small”, “Do the Freddo” and “Have Much Energy”.
